My doctor told me the lump that was biopsied last week is cancer. Good news, the lymph node that was checked is ok. Also, it is in the very early stages. Appointment on Monday with a specialist to see where I go from here.

Thank goodness for regular yearly mammograms.

I am sorry to hear that. I just had one myself this week and I know how scary waiting can be.
Now you wait to hear how to treat this. I am glad you were able to get an appointment quickly. My thoughts are with you.

Very early stages is very hopeful news Catdog12! I'm so glad you went to your yearly mammogram and the docs caught the cancer early. I remember a doc telling me "only 5% of biopsies are cancer" and then I got the call that I had Thyroid cancer. It was a shock but with courage, calm and many prayers I weathered the storm. Please let us know how Monday's appointment goes.

That's always scary new to hear and changes so many things. You have a plan in place and you'll no doubt feel better when you know the treatment plan and the schedule. The women who have been through this before will be a great source of support to you. Find them and have lunch. They know what you'll need. Praying for complete recovery and supporting friends and family.

Catdog, I am very sorry to hear this. Exactly a year ago today I had a mammogram that was suspicious and led to a biopsy a few days later. I had a lumpectomy last December 8 from a finding on a 3D mammogram that showed cancer.Mine was very much like yours, in the early stages, 14 mm, no lymph node involvement and good margins.

I only had to have radiation for a few months and have gone on with my life. You will get through this. Prayers for a quick surgery, if necessary, and an easy plan for recovery.

Thank God for yearly mammos! That's how mine was found. Glad yours is in the early stages, that will help. So will your good attitude! You can do this.

Good luck at your appt - keep a list of questions this weekend to bring to the appt. Think about a second sets of "ears", too. You get a lot of information each time you meet a new doc and another person can help you remember all that is said.

There's a group here, everything cancer, check it out. Great source of support. Feel free to pm me with questions.

I'm glad you caught it early. Prayers for strength and a quick, successful treatment. Your post reminded me that I need to schedule my slightly-overdue mammogram today.

Your News

I'm sorry you had to hear that news, but I'm glad it is in the early stages. I finished treatment for breast cancer a few months ago, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

There is a great Facebook group called After Breast Cancer: Support the Girls which has a lot of good information and support. Even though the title says after breast cancer, many of the participants are going through treatment now. It is been really helpful for me over the past year.

Thinking of you.

There's hardly any convincing evidence for routine mammography.
