I'm hoping you will be able to see your friend tomorrow. It's always nice to connect with an old friend.

I think she should at least make time to have coffee with you. Hopefully you get to see her.

I live far away from my family and it isn't too bad now, 30 years after I left the area. When I first came home though, friends would want to see me, and I them, but it was a very hard thing to go home and turn around and say I was leaving to go see someone else. I wanted to spend time with my parents and vice versa. Not that I didn't want to see my friends, but... Anyway, I used to invite my friends in to see me with my parents. My parents enjoyed seeing my friends, too! I could take a half an hour or something and sit on the porch or walk around the block, but not take a half a day away without feeling like it was wrong! Things were much easier that way.

Any chance you could visit your friend at her family's place?

I agree with Kahlua—visit her AND her family. This worked for me, too, when I went home. My friends visited me and my parents. In fact, my old friends loved my parents and used to visit them when I wasn’t even there.

I love the suggestion of you going to see her at her family home. My hubby’s daughter lives out of state, and when they come home to visit, we barely get to see them because of all the friends that want to see her. In order to spend additional time with them, we would most definitely welcome her friends to our home.

Either way I will definitely say a prayer for you.

it did not work out
maybe over the weekend I guess... and i would go see her anywhere. its if she has time. she is here on business and pulled in many directions in the short time she is here.
she texted me today and said she was really sorry, she tried to work it out but couldnt.

my husband is out of town for a week and i am a bit extra lonely and sensitive.
i hope she has time friday or saturday.
