Infertility- having hope!

Not sure if any of you remember, as I don't post very often, but my husband has a genetic issue that can result in infertility. It's been very tough on me, as it was hard for me to come to terms with myself, and to be open with my parents and siblings about, but I built up the courage to tell them a few months ago, and I feel much better about it now.

The condition can sometimes be treated, and we started the treatment about 6 months ago. I still can't believe that I've been mixing his vials of medication and giving him injections every other day, but he's been a great sport about it, and we're crossing our fingers that it'll all be worth it!

There is a second medication that we will now add for another 6 months. We were so worried about this one, because it is SO expensive, and the first one wasn't covered by our insurance but we just found out that our insurance is going to cover it!! I am so happy I just needed to tell someone aside from my family, and I haven't shared any of this yet with friends, so thought I'd post here. So please keep us in your thoughts that this all works out! We'll be checking in with the doctor in 3 months, and I've been trying to mentally prepare myself for the possibility that this whole treatment may not work out. I am soo thankful however that we're not going to go into debt trying it, and so hopeful that it just may work!

while you prepare for the worst. That is my motto for this kind of situation.

I am sorry you are having difficulty planning and having children. It just seems so unfair. And yet it is a reality for many people like you and your husband. I will say a preyer that his treatments works and the two of you will be expecting your first child soon.

Stay strong and hopeful.

That is wonderful news! Insurance is such a huge part of health care and it must be a relief to know that cost is being covered. Hopefully, you can relax and wait for something positive to happen! It's good you've been able to tell your family the struggle you're facing. I'm sure they share your joy. Sending you good thoughts the very best things to come your way.

I completely understand! We did IVf for our twins.

The $$ you pay stinks. Some medications are not considered infertility meds- they treat other things too.

Good news and I will keep you in my prayers!

That is GREAT news that the insurance is going to cover it - and yes, all very encouraging! We struggled with infertility for several years (we have 1 via fertility drugs, 1 miracle and 1 adopted), my brother and SIL did (all of their children are adopted) and now our younger son and DDIL are struggling with it, so I know how painful it can be.

Prayers that this will work and you will be able to conceive a child!
