But doesn't have her new insurance yet and can't afford to be off work. What is your most successful OTC cold remedy

A friend recommended oil of oregano as a natural antibiotic. I finally broke down and bought some for an issue that I was having and it seems to have worked. It tastes nasty and I had to dilute it in tea or juice, but my problem is better.
I have seen people sharing oscillococcinum as another otc med to use as well.

***Edited to clarify: The oil of oregano I used is not an essential oil, but one bought in a health food store and that is made for ingestion. The directions stated for it to be diluted in 4oz of water. ****

I feel like drinking large amounts of grape juice for days helps me to get better quickly.
Also, I use Robitussin cold, cough and congestion DM for chest colds.

Today is my 3rd day of a cold and I drank 96 oz. of water. I am drinking 16 oz. of peach juice right now. Its amazing how much my secretions thinned out today. I still have a long way to go, but I have noticed improvement. Drink, drink and drink some more!

Cold and sinus flu meds worked a treat for me last week. Also cleaning out my sinuses with a neti pot with one drop (that's important, ONE drop only!!) of oregano oil in the salt water mix. I hope your daughter feels better soon.

You should never ingest essential oils! They have to be so very diluted by a carrier oil just to be on your skin!

Please don't ingest them.

My go to remedy is:

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Lemon juice
1 tbsp (or more) honey

Add the above ingredients or a cup of hot water. I also add some apple cider vinegar to my tea and water to drink throughout the day. I keep drinking this until I feel better. Usually it works best if I start drinking it the second I start feeling sick.

I also use thieves essential oil in a diffuser and try to diffuse a lot.

It is an allergy med, but does wonders for bad colds. I usually get the store brand.

It depends on the symptoms.

Sore throat - gargle with salt water.
Decongestant - Sudafed
Robitussin - plain for cough

No doctor is needed if it is just a cold. They can't do much anyway.
