DS starts student teaching next week!

My youngest DS starts student teaching next week!!! He will be in a high school teaching social studies that he interned at last year (same teacher also). He is quite excited!

He was always the class clown and talking when in school - you know, that kid that drives you cray-cray. A few of his former teachers were quite surprised he went into teaching. He's wanted to be a teacher since he was in third grade! He did tell me that he's had several nightmares the past few days that he was super late or that he had to ride his bike (he lives about ten miles from the school).

Sounds like he will be a wonderful teacher. The class clowns and talkers will have nothing on him. Too funny that he is already having teacher nightmares. Please keep us posted on his progress.

YAY! That is so exciting. I loved my student teaching experience. I had 2 of them. One for gen ed and one for special ed. I loved the gen ed experience and sometimes still dream about working at that school (1st grade - super small catholic school, 2 minutes from my home).

I wish him all the best.

My friend was a bit naughty when she was in school. She would tell the kids and say she did all those tricks and don't try it. Tell your son we all had dreams before school starts and even during the school and summer. Now that I am retired I dream about subbing. Maybe that's why I haven't subbed yet. Most of them are nightmares.

My son wants to teach 4-6 grade, I teach 4th. He is crazy about sports and wants to coach high school aged kids too.

He is a junior in the education program at his college and will student teach next year. Our profession needs more good male teachers! 👍🏻

That is awesome! I hope he has a great time and learns a lot.

lol about his former teachers. They are probably wishing a few kids just like him on him

Best of luck to your son . My daughter is learning a lot her first year . She is a special ed teacher in high school. When she was in her teen years she frequently reminded me that she "would never be a teacher." Now she tells me how much more elementary school teachers work compared to high school teachers. It has been a rewarding experience watching her move towards and into the teaching career.
