Does anyone have suggestions for successfully marketing a tutoring business? I currently tutor one student, but would like to add several more when I retire. Any ideas that have worked for you?

Word of mouth. Nextdoor website. Local schools. (Stop by and give info to secretary).

Maybe you’ve tried these, though.

Good luck!

Perhaps a flyer in local churches? Maybe talk to local librarian? A lot of teachers I know do the tutoring there, so librarians might get the question from time to time.

I tutored for several years before I taught full time. My biggest and best market was homeschooling families, which was surprising. Moms often needed help with teaching math, so I would tutor the child once a week to go over what Mom had taught prior. If you can find one or two, word spreads quickly.

Advertise at the library or even in Fracebook community groups. Let your one student (parent) know you’d like to see more clients and would they recommend you to friends?

Thanks for the great ideas! I think I'll work on a flier and maybe a business card. I always feel so frozen when I promote myself.

If you have any sort of local social media site (such as NextDoor or a local Facebook page, that would be a great place to find tutoring business. People on my NextDoor site frequently post looking for a tutor.
