I am considering applying to do this. It sounds very interesting and I would love the chance to learn more about Chinese culture and such. However I am not so sure about my computer skills. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Nancy

Another 4th grade teacher in my district just got hired last month and from what she has posted on Facebook it sounds like she is happy with it so far. She is funny and I always enjoy sitting with her at district meetings

I have two friends who are doing it. I wasn't surprised when one of them applied because she is perky and outgoing and never met a stranger, but the other is really quiet and reserved and is never one to initiate a conversation. They both got hired and both seem to really enjoy it. They are both still teaching in classrooms, so they have to get up really early to do their VIPKid classes. That would be a no go for me! I think as long as you have WiFi and can log on to the computer, you should be fine!

There are several teachers in my building who do this. They'd be happy to talk, text, or email you about it, I'm sure. Just let me know. I'm considering starting this summer as well.

I am teaching for them currently and I love it! It makes me remember why I wanted to be a teacher! Once you get pasted the hiring process (which is extremely intimidating and stressful, even for a teacher of almost 30 years) it is so much fun. Feel free to PM me and I will answer any questions you might have!

I teach 20-25 hours a week and make $1500-$2000 extra a month which goes a long way with 2 children in college. More importantly, I have found the joy of teaching again and it has helped improve my attitude as a whole...I HATE MY my B&M school beyond words. I am not an outgoing person at all, but once you teach a few of these children you come to life for them. They want to learn and have parent support...so different than what I deal with day to day. I had a 7 year old the other day that I swear could read English better than many of our 5th graders.

I work every morning from 4 am-6:30 CST and as many hours as I can book on the weekends (Friday night 7 pm to Saturday 8 am, Saturday 7 pm to Sunday 7 am and a few Sunday nights from 8 pm to 10 pm. If I dont feel like teaching a class, I just turn off my availability. I set my own schedule.

The lesson is done for you, your job is to teach it to bring it to life using TPR, props and whatever it takes.

I have a couple of friends who are taking a break from teaching to raise their own children who currently do this. They both really enjoy it. One tip... there are a few youtube videos that give awesome tips for getting through the interview.
