I am not sure what this even looks like, but wonder if any of you have any experience in this? Where students are taught some by interest and not by standards? So you might have multiage groups learning about gardening or something like that?

Any one? I would like to have a discussion about this.

My kids' school does a week of this at the end of the year. The entire school (K-6) is divided into multi-age groups, and rotate through 4 or 5 activities each day.

Thanks, MissAgnes for responding. We have been looking at a school that supposedly does this on a regular basis. When looking through their website, I see that they do a day once every 5 weeks or so where they rotate through different activities in multiage groups, and I really wonder if that isn't what they do. Not do it on a regular day to day basis. Anyway...

This year we do a weekly club type thing during the day where kids have chosen a "club" and for an hour get together to do activities in that arena. The groups are multiage and have been a lot of fun for kids and for most teachers. I love my club! But I don't know how I could teach my grade level standards doing anything remotely similar. Even doing projects is difficult for me to teach concepts. Kids learn a lot, but I just haven't figured the whole thing out.
