Sharing C-V-C Word Ladders

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I created some c-v-c word ladders in Google Slides. Here is the link: https://goo.gl/jE1PWd It is set to Make a Copy.

There are three different slides with six pictures on each slide. Students name the picture and drag the letters to make the word on the top rung. As they move down the ladder, they have to change only one letter each time to make the new word. It is self-checking if students do it on computer, Smartboard, iPad or chromebook. After students finish, they drag the yellow shape to uncover the answer key.

There are different ways you can use the Google Slides:
  • You can assign an individual slide to your students in Google Classroom. It is self-checking.
  • You can do it as an activity on the Smartboard. It is self-checking.
  • You can print out a slide and laminate it (or use a plastic sheet protector) for Word Work Center. Have students use magnetic letters, letter cards, foam letters or letter tiles. You could have students use dry erase markers to write the letters, but you will need to change the directions from "Drag" to "Write."
  • You can print out a slide on paper and have students use letter stamps, but you will need to change the direction from "Drag" to "Stamp"

I included a template that you can use if you want to make more slides. Duplicate the template slide and make your changes to the duplicate slide. Remember that you need to lock the background so people can't copy/use the clip art without the clip art creator's permission. I put directions in the speaker notes on the template slide.

I hope that someone can use this.

This is great! It reminds me of how we all used to share on PT, before TPT. Thank you!:

Thank you...this is amazing.
And, I did not know you could share and "make a copy only." This is life changing for me!

K28- How to Set It to Make a Copy
Old 02-25-2018, 04:01 PM

Clip to ScrapBook #7

To set it to make a copy, I do a trick I learned from Alice Keeler and also use URL shortener.

1. When in the Google Slide, click on the blue Share button found in the top right corner.
2. Click-Get Shareable Link. (Make sure that you have Link Sharing set to Anyone with a Link.)
3. Copy and paste that link into Goo.gl URL shortener.
4. Erase from the end of the URL to the backslash (Don't erase the backslash.) The part you want to erase looks like this: edit?usp=sharing
5. Type in the word: copy to replace what you erased.
6. Click on the button to shorten the URL.
7. Copy the new shortened URL.
8. When you share that URL, it will ask the person if they want to make a copy. So they get a copy that they can edit and you don't have to worry about them making changes to your original.
