Has anyone left the classroom to take an instructional coaching job? Positives? Negatives?

Last year was REALLY rough, this year has been wonderful so I'm less inclined to leave....but after last year, I know I need an exit plan...

I Did it part time for two years. (Classroom teacher 3 1/2 days a week, coach for 1 and 1/2 days.)

Positives:
Out of classroom
A change from teaching same old same old
You might have a freer schedule
If you love to help/teach adults, it can be fun

Negatives:
If you hate it, will there be a classroom position for you after one year?
Will you be taken advantage of I.e. "Oh, you're just a coach. You need to sub for Mrs. X today."
Do the teachers in your school/district want or welcome coaches? Ours didn't and it was pulling teeth to get anything accomplished.
What will your schedule really be like? One school or running between schools?
