Excursion in Grand Cayman? Montego Bay?

DH and I are cruising this summer. We will be stopping in Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Montego Bay. We've been to Cozumel several times, so we know what to do there. However, we've never been to Grand Cayman or Montego Bay.

Any advice for good excursions/day trips? Thanks!

NEGRIL BEACH ESCAPE WITH RICK'S CAFESHARE THIS TRIP
Add to Itinerary
ShoreTrips says...
The beaches of Negril are famous. So famous that many travel magazines view Negril's 7-mile long stretch of beaches as some of the best in the world.

Just a little over an hour away from Montego Bay brings you to this little slice of Heaven on Earth. But the time will fly by as your guide shares many interesting details and stories about Jamaica. Once you arrive, you will quickly realize Negril was worth the drive. Here, soft, white sands blend seamlessly into warm, crystal clear turquoise waters. It is truly breathtaking.

Now, choose how to spend you 2 hours here. Relax on the beach or enjoy a variety of optional water sports such as kayaks, parasailing and banana boat rides (not included in tour cost, available for rental). Refresh with a drink and some snacks or have lunch. Wade into the calm, pristine water. No matter what you decide, you can't go wrong.

Although you'll be sad to leave the beach, the next destination will make you happy again. Rick's Cafe, home to the famous cliff divers, is sure to delight. From their platform high above the water, these brave divers take the plunge into the deep blue sea, 100 feet below. They are a sight to behold. If watching them makes you want to participate, you're welcome to try if for yourself, from a more manageable cliff height of 33 feet.

If time permits and you would like, your guide will stop for you to do some shopping before dropping you back off at the cruise ship pier.

Comfortable van with driver, guide and 4 of us. The beach resort was very nice and felt safe. We had lobster on the beach. There were nice facilities and food. Rick's was beautiful. This would be a great place for sunset and music. Remember to bring cash to give drivers!

PRIVATE BOB MARLEY NINE MILE TOURSHARE THIS TRIP
Add to Itinerary
ShoreTrips says...
Our Nine Mile tour will introduce you to a community that helped influence one of the greatest musicians of this century. It will leave you with a better understanding of a young man, whose vision helped change the thoughts of people worldwide. No small achievement for a man who often spoke of his respect for the simple, rural life. Respect that helped guide his life. Respect instilled during his youthful days in the small mountain village that locals still call Nine Mile.

This tour takes you through some of the most picturesque scenery in Jamaica, traveling through Higgins Town and Claremont to the village of Nine Mile, a quaint little place in the beautiful mountains of St. Ann. This is where the legendary "King of Reggae," Bob Marley, was born on February 6, 1945, and is the very same place he was later laid to rest.

The tour starts at the family home where their history began. Many of Bob's family members still live there. You may run into someone who can tell you stories of Bob's childhood.

The tour takes you through the house Bob lived in as a young boy, and your Rastafarian guide will share little-known insights into Bob Marley's childhood and musical career. You will get to stand on "Mount Zion Rock," where Bob used to meditate and rest his head on "the pillow" made famous in the song "Talking Blues." Finally, walk through the mausoleum, which is the final resting place of the Reggae King. You will also see the fireside where Young Bob Marley cooked his meals as depicted in the song "No Woman No Cry"--"we would cook cornmeal porridge of which I share with you."

After the tour, your guide will take you to the restaurant at Nine Mile for a scrumptious lunch and refreshments.

Your return trip is a continuation of your excursion. You'll travel through rural Jamaica, winding your way through scenic Muir House and Brown's Town, where you'll see the Brown’s Town market, which is famous for its produce. There is no better way to end your tour as you return to your North Coast destination.

Nine Mile is owned and operated by Bob's family. It is not unusual to find them nearby and convince them to tell you tales of young Nesta.

This Tour Includes:
Scenic drive
Visit to: Nine Mile village, Bob Marley's home, "Mount Zion Rock," Fireside, Muir House, and Brown's Town
Lunch: Chicken or Vegetarian Option + one non-alcholic beverage

I have always loved Bob Marley, but this was unlike anything that I could have expected! It was a great way to spend our time in Montego Bay and to learn more about one of my musical favorites!

We had a great time, thank you!

We had a fantastic time riding horses. The private area they took us to swim with the horses was awesome! The only negative was it was a long ride to the horse stables via van. On the way back to the ship they allowed us to stop for authentic jerk spiced chicken and pork, and go souvenir shopping.
