Threat

Apparently there was a credible threat at school today. Student had outlined in detail what and when it would take place. Was placed under arrest and taken to juvenile detention. This is a 6-8 building. I was subbing today, and ironically they had a planned lockdown drill in the morning. I saw the police car, but assumed it was due to the drill. Guess I was wrong. Didn't see the student, but have an idea.

There was an evacuation at a middle school today in a nearby county. A note was found threatening a bomb and a reference was made to Parkland. I just don't know what the answer is.

One of the high schools in the district where I sub got a report that someone had brought a weapon to school. The school went on lockdown and a gun was found. Two students were arrested. This is getting just too crazy!

Several of the schools in my district have had threats with arrests made in the last week. I don't want to get numb to it as business as usual, but at the same time I am living in a heightened state of stress and I don't think that is healthy either.

I am glad to hear it was handled so well and the student was arrested!

About half are complaining that they want to know WHO made the threat and WHAT the threat was. I finally just typed in FERPA. Ugh..... Sure, I'm curious. I may even have an idea who it is. And I will probably find out who when I sub tomorrow. But I won't even share with my husband, because.... FERPA.
