What is the difference?? Which do you recommend? Which is least expensive.

I have been asked to find out about these, and I don't have a clue.

Please help.

A Smartboard is more expensive as you have to have a computer and a projector for it to work. However, it is much more interactive and there is so MUCH online to use with it. It's just like using a computer, only the students can interact with it by moving things on the board like they would with a mouse. Depending on the model, you get lots of bells and whistles as well. It can also be used like a whiteboard by writing on it, only much more fun!
The Elmo is like an overhead only much better! It actually shows whatever is under it on the board, color and all. No more transparencies! Just place what you want the students to see and it appears exactly like that item on the screen. Depending again on the model, most can zoom in and zoom out and more.
If I had to choose and money wasn't an object, I'd go for the Smartboard. However it is harder to move from room to room as you need the computer and projector. Kind of depends on your needs.
Good luck! Maybe you can get both!!!!

I only have $500 to spend in my district. We already have classroom projectors. I am looking into a CPS chalkboard or a mimeo. Both can turn a whiteboard into a smartboard at a lot less cost. If I had my choice, I would get the mimeo.
