Grateful! At 36 weeks, my grand-twins were born on Saturday.( Eliza Pearl, 5 lbs. 8 ounces; Henrik Swenson, 4 lbs. 5 ounces). Both are healthy- my heart is full.
Waiting for them has been very stressful, as the boy had not been gaining/growing for the past month and was "at risk"; so doc was just trying to have them make it until 36 weeks for birth. So we are so thankful they are doing well, and only spent one day in the NICU.
They are doing so well, in fact, that after 4 days they are coming home today!
Yes, today... when the temperature in Minnesota is -27 and the windchill is -48! Seriously, all schools, colleges, USPS, malls - everything is closed because of the dangerous temperatures. All one hears is "stay inside- frostbite can occur in 3 minutes".
Common sense tells me it isn't best for 4 and 5 pound premies to be transported in dangerous cold; but common sense evidently doesn't matter when medical insurance drives our care!
that the precious twins are transported home safely and quickly while staying as warm as possible. When they arrive home I hope they will feel the warmth and love they need to thrive. Sending best wishes for a healthy and happy life for both of them.
(my in-laws are all from Minnesota) So I agree that although med insurance may drive our care, so does weather. Bundle the whole family up and get home safely-and the love will continue!!
I don’t know about that kind of weather, but I do believe that it’s easier to “catch” germy stuff in hospitals than at home. I certainly understand your concern and will be thinking of you and your family and hoping for the best.
So glad everything went well with the birth and that everyone is doing well. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for a safe transport home for the new arrivals.
Congratulations on your grandchildren--Twins are double the blessing! I love their names! Are they based from family?
Yes, it is cold and I would be concerned too. As a gramma of 7, I know that I am a bigger worrier now than I ever was as a mom! Now, I understand my mom much better!
God bless those adorable little babies and may they continue to grow bigger and have healthy lives. Enjoy them and I am certain you are going to be a huge help to the parents in the next few weeks!
Congratulations....and a boy and a girl ...they hit the jackpot! I'm sure they'll be wrapped up like little burritos and so don't fret. Here's to Eliza and Henrik! Welcome to the world....and hope your mom and dad are doing well, too! You'll have tales to tell them about the day they came home!
Crazy weather you are having over there. I can understand your worry because it does sound dangerous to even be out on the road. Flat tires, engines dying. Blinding Snow. Alas, bet they're home safe and sound now.
They are home, safe and sound. And we also brought their big sister, age 2 home, also. We'll go back tomorrow and take her with us again for a couple of days.
