This is a true story. I got in the elevator at school this afternoon, and the little emergency light started flashing. All of a sudden, I heard a voice that said, “We’ve been trying to contact you regarding your car’s extended warranty.” They even found me in the school elevator.

I get phone calls every day from people trying to sell me an extended warranty for my car. Today, I heard the same call coming through the emergency speaker in the elevator.

Wow! That is kind of spooky and very futuristic. It's time to contact the company and tell them to take you off their calling list.

I’ve tried to get off their calling list

They still call. Sometimes they call more than once a day. I even got on the government no call list. I just thought it was so funny when I heard it come through the elevator speaker. It must have been coming through from the office.

That’s a good story! Too bad there were no colleagues to enjoy it with you!

You can block any number you want on your cell phone if you want,

I am on the Federal Trade Commission no call list. You can report those kind of calls there. I keep reporting them until the calls stop. Good luck. They sure are annoying.

I don’t fully understand this either...

But, I block spam numbers that call over and over and that stops it.

I block them every time they call.

They just call from a different number the next time. Anyway, I wasn't looking for a solution. I just thought it was a funny story when it came over the emergency speaker in the elevator. I guess my story telling abilities need a little brushing up.

It is not easy to get them to stop calling. Just like Linda said whenever I try to put a number on a do not call list, they always call from another number. What they do is sign up for phone numbers in your area code because they figure that people will be more likely to pick up the phone if they see what they think is a local call.

They get rid of the number immediately once they made the call and get another one. I have not been able to find an answer. I used to get 30 spam calls a day. That amount has been less lately, but I still get them.
