Two friends I haven’t seen in many many years visited yesterday. I met them my first year teaching, 1973, in Los Angeles. We had so much fun back then as we learned to teach, got married, had kids together. Friends of my heart. I am so grateful for the luxury of retirement. Lucky lucky me.
Today I met my former school secretary and a special education teacher both retired for a walk around the paths and trails at our local wildlife center park. I had not been to the park in years, and was reminded of how pretty it is. We caught up over a few miles and then went out for breakfast. Today would have been my first day with students. Instead, I enjoyed a stress-free morning with good friends. Lucky, lucky me indeed!
Very glad you got to enjoy the company of your long-time friends. It is amazing how years and life experiences can intervene and when you see your old friends, it's like time stood still. I will be traveling to NC next week for the surprise party of a childhood friend I have not seen virtually since her wedding years ago. I am looking forward to reconnecting in person.
