Hi everyone,

So I just received a contract from one of the 3 school divisions I will be subbing for. School starts in less than 4 weeks and though I fully realize how nerdy this sounds, I can't wait to start subbing again!

When I saw your post title, I thought you'd been hired for a teaching position. I've never heard of a sub having a contract, but I've only taught in Texas.
Congratulations, and would you mind explaining what a sub contract means?

It means I will be allowed to sub again next year. I clicked off that I want to return, but the school division decides whether or not subs are allowed back on the list, and I was accepted back again. I got the contract saying I will be employed as a sub again, and have signed it and will return it to the board office in a few days.

Congratulations on a contract! I never got a contract when I was subbing. I teach in my own room now, and we start back on Monday. I am so excited! I've been in my room already several times this summer....I feel at home when I am in my classroom! Good luck with subbing this year! Too bad you aren't in my school....the sub I liked got hired as a teacher so now I am in need of a good sub!!!

Thanks so much! Glad you have your own classroom and are enjoying it! There are plenty of great subs, I'm sure you will find another one to teach your kids when you are away.

Take care and all the best in your new teaching year! Mine starts the first week of September!

I got one of 3 divisions contracts in the mail yesterday too!

I'm also excited to get back to subbing... the summer seems to be dragging on for some reason.

Interesting how it works where you are, Vlad. Here in my district (TX) you just let them know via email if you want to go again for the next year. (unless you get too many complaints, and you can only have 3 in five years or you're out) You have to attend a short meeting where they tell you everything they told you the year before, and then get an updated badge.

BTW, I'll join the nerd club. I have been ready to see the kids since early July! Best wishes for a great year!

With my divisions, you have to go a site and click "accept", but then the sub clerk decides whether you are rehired again or not. I think to not be rehired, you have to do something really terrible and unprofessional, or not work a day for the division during the schoolyear.

Still, it's nice to be getting invited back

Glad to hear you're part of the club! All the best to you also!
