Anybody Getting Calls Before School Starts?

I got a call last week for a job the third, fourth and fifth days of the school year. I took it, but thought getting the computer call was kind of strange considering I have never been to that school and school does not start here for another week. Last year I wasn't called until the third or fourth week! Has anyone else gotten calls before school started?

Not by phone, but there are already a bunch of Aesop listings on the computer.

I've already booked two jobs for the third week of school, but both are with schools who know me. I haven't looked online yet. Teachers went back today.

I've gotten 2 days on Aesop and school hasn't started yet. Not unusual here.

I had some jobs booked by the office manager at the end of last year for this year, but I haven't received any calls from the sub system.

I guess I should chip in and share. The day before the school began, I got an automated call for a 3-day assignment. I took it. That was last week. The assignment as extra-sub was extended to this week all week but with the notion that once the IA gets hired, I would get cancellations. Yup, I am fillimng in for IA.

In my district you don't have to have gone to the school before to get an advance call. You just have to be on the sub rolls. After your first year you're bumped up a notch in seniority.

I only have one day booked so far from an AESOP posting for the 2nd week of school. Where I work in NJ, assignments don't normally appear until the first couple days of school.

I work for a regional school district and they have posted on AESOP for only one school. I'm hoping that the other 6 schools start posting jobs soon. Last summer the high school posted all summer long, and so far they have posted not one job. Very frustrating.

Teachers just headed back this week for meetings and room prep, so the calls should start coming in later this week. There are usually quite a few instructional aid positions that have not been filled that need subs. Would be nice to be able to book some days soon.

I have 7 days in September for a district that may go on strike and 1 day in October. Jobulator has been making it's noise but the jobs are not there when I check, must be just missing them.

There have been a few listings on Aesop, but they don't usually pick up until school starts.

shortage of subs

Yup. The year I became a sub and even now, I've seen jobs for the first day of schools, many vacant positions even. A teacher even told me theres a shortage of subs in the district and the sub office all of a sudden put a notice last year saying we have to work at least one a week to be active in the system lol.
