At my school, we are doing costumes based on book characters. I am looking for something cheap and DIY!

Any ideas?

I did Viola Swamp one year. Black dress, wig, socks and shoes. I found a dress at Goodwill and already had the socks and shoes.

We're doing the same thing, although we're doing it the following day. Anyway, I'm going to be Willy Wonka but I had said if I couldn't gather the items needed, I would be Fern from Charlotte's Web. That's got to be pretty easy. My coworker is going to be Junie B., another easy one. Viola Swamp is another easy one. How about Miss Nelson? You wouldn't have to show up for school

Wore a suit and carried an umbrella with food from the kinder classroom and ivory yarn hangin from it. Also made a yellow star badge that said "mayor".

What was I? Mayor of Chew and Swallow from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. :-)

Junie B. Jones - swingy skirt, pink sweater, big bow in hair, Mary Janes with ankle socks (could be tights).

Pretty easy!

Wear jeans, tshirt, and a flannel. Look really confused and call yourself Bella from Twilight. If you wanted you could write I <3 Vampires on the front.

One year I was Robert Munsch's Paper Bag Princess. I made a dress out of grocery bags and wore it with brown sandals and leggings. I added a little dirt to my face with make up, had tangly hair, and made a little crown. It was a big hit and super cheap!

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

I love all the ideas!

Wear overalls and make ears from a headband and construction paper. Make a construction paper cookie to put in the front pocket of your overalls (hanging out some). Use eyeliner to put whiskers and a nose. Clothespin a yarn tail to the back. Easy and comfy!

Cinderella - before the ball

An easy one is Cinderella before the ball. Peasant shirt, jean skirt, smudges of dirt on your face, and a bandana.
