Before Fall Break

Because we have a Fall Break the first week of October I time it so the shot is effective then. I donít need a sick family on break.
Iím also willing to pay out of pocket if I have to time it right.

Usually November...my doctor does not like to give them too early as the effectiveness will wane by late winter.

I'm October also. I have my annual physical then. I used to go to a community clinic, but I can get the high dosage one from my doctor.

I get mine at the end of September. I get it at Target or CVS whenever I happen to be in there on a Saturday at the end of September.

I had no idea that the vaccine wore off that fast. Thanks for the information. I will look into this and determine when is best for my shot.

My best friend is my primary care doctor so I am going to ask her right now.

Flu Shot

I've never had a flu shot. Last time I had the flu was 15 years ago. I think I've been sick 3 times in the last 30 years. I must have a fantastic immune system. Every year I think I should get that shot. But.....

I get mine in September or October, depending on when they tell me to get one. They will probably give me one next week at my checkup.

My insurance sends out a notice that they are available and then you can just walk into any clinic and get one. It's usually sometime in October.

I already got mine. I have gotten it as soon as it was available, which has been at the end of August, for the last few years. I also had been told it only lasted a few months. I asked again, and they said that is not correct. As soon as it comes out you can get it and it will last the entire flu season.

They are usually not available until October here. I saw my nurse practitioner yesterday and she made a note for the office manager to call me as soon as they get the flu shots in. I'd like to get mine before baby arrives at the end of October so he will hopefully share some of my immunity.

I got mine last weekend. I always get it right when they become available in the local pharmacies. The pharmacist said it lasts roughly 6 months.

This year they updated one of the strains. The flu shot covers 4 strains.
