Testing week

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi!
I'm a first year teacher, teaching Literacy for grades 6, 7 and 8. We are having testing for the next two weeks for 2 hours each day. The rest of our time is regular schedule. I'm not meeting with all of my classes each day due to the testing. Other teachers have told me that during the testing we still need to do curriculum, but do something fun because the kids won't feel like doing anything.
I'm having a difficult time finding activities that the kids will find fun that fit into the curriculum for 8th grade. I can probably think of something for a class session or 2, but not for 6 days. We're reading a short story and talking about theme and irony. Any ideas??

I found a couple of nice, free activities on other sites. I'm going to send you a message since it's linking to TPT.

Middle schoolers think any lesson where they can work together and pick their partners is fun.

Computer Lab Time

If you have access to a computer lab I would have your classes in there. You could create an Interactive PowerPoint game or glogster lesson that goes along with your curriculum. From my past experience students really enjoy using the computer after a testing session.
