Classroom "escape rooms"

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I'm seeing posts about setting up lessons based on escape rooms. Does anyone have experience running these lessons? Tips? Suggestions? Advice? I teach 6th grade and have three classes of 29 students.

TIA!

No, but I saw one on TpT that I really like. It's on my wishlist. If you decide to do one let me know how it goes.

My fear is it's going to be chaos, and not the controlled kind.

I've been doing them. I use BreakoutEdu. I have gotten locks from Amazon via Donorschoose. I have a colleague who is using some of the ones on TPT that do not involve actual locks.

I had never done one, so I was a little nervous. The resource came with multiple "group" activities so several groups could go at once; however, since it was the first time, We did it as a whole class in the classroom. Kids just took turns reading, searching, solving, etc.... They liked it...I teach fourth. One thing was we ran out of time, so on the first one, I'd give yourself at least 45 minutes to an hour...and we only had 4 "stations" with clues.
