My Kidney Update
Old 03-31-2019, 07:32 PM
  #1

In late February I was hospitalized for acute kidney failure.

Well after two biopsies and having to pee every 20 minutes, my doctors have diagnosed me with Bladder Cancer...

Luckily it is in the early stages and hasn't spread so the treatment is relatively simple.

In short, my last day is this upcoming Friday and I will be going through chemo once a week until the beginning of July. There is also the possibility I will have to have my bladder removed.

So I may not be able to start out next school year.

This sucks.

The silver lining is my wife works like 5 minutes from my treatment center and she has a flexible schedule that will allow her to work from home on my treatment days.

Bladder issues are challenging to manage until you get a diagnosis and a treatment plan. I pray you will find great relief with treatment. It sounds like you are in good hands. Please post updates when you can.

Old 04-01-2019, 05:01 AM

I had that 5 years ago. I had 4 tumors that had grown almost through the wall of the bladder. Today I am cancer free and did not have to have any surgery except to remove the tumors and then treatments after.

I hope you have great success with your treatments.

I am so sorry to hear this, but you have done your job by pursuing issues and they found it early.

Chipmunky's story sounds encouraging and inspiring. The medical profession always gives the worst possible news first, so let's hope your story will be like hers. I'll pray for you if you wish.

It sounds like you have a plan. I know cancer sucks. Been through it with a few people. One thing that I have seen make a difference is attitude. Knowing that you are going to be ok one day is huge. You caught it early. Chemo will kick it's ass. Your wife is close and has a flexible schedule. We are all praying and thinking of you. You got this.

I am so sorry. But I'm glad they caught it early. I've been through chemo for a different type of cancer. Now I'm a five year survivor. It's certainly not fun, but with your positive attitude and supportive family, you will come out on the winning side!

Yes, it does suck big time. However, you are awesome in that you can find a silver lining anywhere in this.

Sending you best wishes. Keep us informed when you feel up to it.

A co-worker had bladder cancer years ago, and it was relatively simple as you said. I hope you experience the same.
