@$*#%^ robocallers

I have nomorrobo on my phone (thank you Lisa53) but robo callers seem to have found a way around it. They are mimicking the area code and first three digits of my phone number so that I will think I know the caller. At least three times a day and some times more , I win a cruise or I get a final notice about my credit card from Visa, Amex, and Mastercard. Sometimes I "win" 4 cruises in one week. This is so annoying.

robocalls

I literally never answer my home phone and those kinds of robocallers rarely leave a message. I only have a home phone so that I can give that number to businesses, drs, etc. and not be bothered on my cell.

I heard a podcast where they explained how the robocallers do that number mimicking thing. Apparently there was a legitimate use for it when internet calling became available but then the scammers picked up on it. According to the podcast gov't regulators are working on fixing the loopholes. I'm sure that will be a quick fix Also, I found out the robocall centers can send out 1000s of calls at one time so you're not even wasting their time if you try to keep them on the line.

I donít even answer a call thatís not identified in my list. Iím also pretty darn cranky about those annoying calls. One time they used MY phone number to call an acquaintance with an offer to buy a beach condo!

When will the new legislation go into effect that allows our carriers to filter out the robo calls? Iím fed up!

I never answer unknown calls even if they appear to be local. If it's something legit, they'll leave a message. For some reason, I'm getting way less during the summer. During the school year I was often getting at least 1 or 2 per day.

Our carrier

is Century Link and they gave us a way to block calls. Each has to be entered after a call. We've blocked 16 numbers and it's a lot quieter around here!

I registered on the Do Not Call list and I report all scam calls. I've managed to stop a lot of them.

I got 4 calls this morning. Dumb me, I answered the first two. No more. I also block the numbers but I doubt that helps.

I'm the same way.

I heard a new story last night that they have gotten their way to calling hospitals and how it can put people's lives at risk because people who truly need them can't get through. The people interviewed were advocating for a law and a steep fine for robocalls/telemarketers calling hospitals.

What I can't figure out

is why they think that pestering us to death will make us buy what they are selling. I tried blocking their calls, but they just call back later using a different number.

It is political poll time in NH. Those calls won't end until Nov 2020.
My answer is "Call me on the phone and I'm not voting for your canidate". The other crank call I get is the ones offering to consolidate my student loans....my goodness even my kids loans have been paid off for 20 years.

Strange that you should bring up robocalls (and so "positivelyĒ at that)--

The new one I got today said a couple months ago I already paid $299 for service (lol service was not specified). If I wanted to do to use the service, press 1. If I wished to cancel the service, press 9".

These calls are so normal I do not expect a call to be from someone I actually want to talk to or from someone who has legitimate business with me.

I've had NoMoRobo for quite a while too, but the last few wks, it seems to have stopped working. I logged onto my account and my phone is still activated, so don't know...

If anyone knows another FREE telemarketer-blocker, please let me know.
