Ks do Nutcracker

Subbing leads to sweet surprises. Today I got to watch 25 kindergartners perform The Nutcracker. This had to be the cutest play I have seen ever. I had never seen The Nutcracker and had no idea what the story was about. The costumes were wonderful and the kids were amazing. Though they spoke clearly having memorized their lines word for word and showed no emotion on their faces the whole thing was adorable. Kudos to the teacher who spent so much time performing and the little ones who showed no fear!

I did have to explain it to the 2nd graders when we got back to class because many of them couldn't understand what the Ks were saying! And tomorrow they get to write about it. Sweet.

Performances take so much time, but I think they are well worth the investment. I have done them with my classes regularly when I taught 1st. I have done 2 big ones as a 3rd grade teacher - then I have to take a year off to recover! We make them into project with costumes and props and backgrounds being a large part of the project.

Lots of work.

It is really a long show but classic. I am glad they have an assignment to write about it.
