Do NOT say "I told you so"

because I will cut you.

That's what I said to my husband. I'm not any help with measuring or cutting or anything that isn't basically brute labor, so he is on his own installing the flooring. But, because I want to be helpful, I knocked the nails out of the old baseboards. And then I stood on the middle and bent one end up because they are 16 feet long and won't fit in the truck to deposit in a dumpster. And of course one of them was a real bitch and snapped weird and smacked the heel of my left foot.

I had to make my husband stop what he was doing and pull all the wood shards out of my foot. The "do not say I told you so part"? I was wearing flip flops. And he is always telling me I'll get hurt wearing flip flops to mow the lawn or move 33784774674 metric tons of lava rock or snapping 16 foot long boards in half. And so far this week, he was only right 33% of the time.

Also, how do you know if you broke your heel? It still really hurts. I'm sure I'm being super dramatic. But indulge me: how would I know? And don't tell me to go to Urgent Care because that's not happening.

You won't without an x-ray. But let's be honest - there's nothing you can do for it anyway besides staying off it, so what's the point of going in?

Sorry you got hurt! Hope it's not broken and is just sore for a bit.
And FWIW, I try to do just about everything in flip flops.

I prescribed Vitamin Vodka and it is helping!

Oh no! But Iíll bet you looked cute in your flip flops. Looking cute trumps ignoring questionable advice. Go have a few drinks and elevate that heel.

I have been lead to understand that {I told you so} only aggravates an injury. Enjoy your adult beverage with your foot elevated

Oh I am full tilt into homeless mode. Nothing cute about me. It wasn't a fashion decision, lol. I hate shoes.

I told him he should be happy I wasn't barefoot and he said, "You might as well have been," and I said, "Yeah, well the driveway was too hot to be barefoot" and the argument sort of disintegrated after that.

I pulled up all my hallway and living carpet in flip flops. At some point I took my shoes off. I hate closed toed shoes. I did not hurt my feet.

BUT (you know thereís a but) my hallway is narrow and I was pulling out the 23486979 staple when I needed to scoot backwards...and sat directly on a long piece of tack strip.

I suspect your foot hurts from getting smacked, and itís not broken.

Oh no! An actual PITA! I actually worried about doing that. I'm guessing you got punctured?

Oh no! Hope it feels better soon!

One year I managed to drop a shelf onto my big toe while I was setting up my classroom. DH asked first thing if I was wearing flip flops. I smirked and said no. I took them off while I was working!

Yup I got a lashing from DD when we were helping her remodel her kitchen. I was in charge of painting trim. It was hot so of course I had flip flops on. Low and behold some how I dropped a piece with a sharp edge on my left foot. Toe bled all over and was bruised for several days. I did break down and wear shoes after that.

Zia - you know what I learned from that experience? To take shelves off bookcases before I move them. I still work barefoot/in flip-flops.

Hope it feels better tomorrow. I totally moved a bookshelf still with books on it last week in my classroom. I had taken my flip flops off. Lol. Luckily I didnít injure myself but the thought crossed my mind.

Youch! I hope you feel better soon!

I always do work barefoot- unless I'm out walking on rocks I'm a prime example of "do as I say, not as I do."

I have no idea how you'd know about your heel, but I have stepped on carpet tack strip (whatever it's called) before, full-footed. It hurts like a b!tch! Don't think I've managed to sit on that stuff (yet), though

Ouch! That hurts!

This summer I had a trench open from the electric pole to my new house. I had to pull the wire for electric and run water lines. My dad was giving me a hard time because I had flip flops on. I got tired of listening to him and put on tennis shoes after our break. I was getting down into the trench to move some pipe and I ended up missing my landing, twisting and hitting my leg. It is still swollen and hurts so bad. I probably should go get it looked out, but I havenít had time. This was over 3 weeks ago.

That is all I wear...to do everything! We installed our hardwood floor this weekend. I must have converted dh because he was wearing flip flops too, so we could kick them off at the door and not walk with shoes on the wood floor.

OMG- your description really described the pain you must have felt, and I'm sure your heel is going to be painful for some time. Hope it heals quickly, I guess this will be another "one of a kind" memory for both you and your husband in your remodel adventures.

Very sorry you got hurt...

If your heel continues to bother you, I would get it checked out. I had a stress reaction in my heel from running, and the doctor just said to resume activity when I felt no pain. It hurt worse than when I actually did have a stress fracture on another bone because you could not avoid putting weight on it.

Must have been a weekend for injury. I was supposed to go kayaking with a group. I had my water shoes on. I was walking to the car to put a few things away, and my foot got cut by a piece of glass in the parking lot pretty badly. My shoes were thin and it sliced right through. Three stitches later and no kayaking trip for me...

Feel better soon. I hope your tetanus shot is up to date.

Girl no shame in that flip flop game. Here in TX we flip flop until we would get frost bite. Its just so sad we can't wear them to work. Of course, it's the absolute worst type of shoe for plantar fasciitis.

If my old pedicure wasn't so heinous right now I would show you the huge flip flop stripes I have on my feet from the last soccer tournament.
