Teacher said I was awesome!

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Yesterday and today I was in a resource classroom, grades 6-8. The social studies teacher brought a worksheet in for one of the 8th graders to redo. He'd written down gibberish on the first one just so he could be done with the assignment. I sat down with him, listened to his excuses (he'd finished it and given it to the aide. It was in his folder. He didn't want to do it a third time), which were all lies. Finally we began the assignment. He found the answers, and I read them to him as he wrote. He looks at what he's reading and writes without looking. Gibberish. He got about 1/3 done. Since he'd wasted so much time, I told him he'd be with me at 7:30 when students are allowed in the school. He had 20 minutes. He did it. Not perfect, but readable. The teacher came to me and thanked me, so I told her how it had gone down. She laughed and told me I was awesome. I'm so awesome that she brought me work for him AND another student for study hall today. Sigh....

It's always about motivation. How are you going to get out of that one? Lol.

This 8th grade group is going to have problems in high school. Every single 8th grade teacher had kids in to do work during lunch today. That's ridiculous.

right?

That 8th grade group must be related to the now 6th graders we shipped off to middle school this year. They were a hot mess all through elementary school. I wish their MS teachers the best.

Good for you! I'm sure there aren't many who could have done such a good job!
