Sept. 7th was going to be my first sub job, but I got a call today for Aug. 29th, which is the second day of school. Both of these jobs are at my favorite school.
This will be interesting, as it's a bilingual 2nd grade class, so most of them will have spent the summer speaking mostly or only Spanish. Last year, I subbed the entire second week of school in the same setting, and with my little bit of Español and their little bit of Inglés, we did just fine.
I'm anxious to see the kids again, too. Remind me of that when my alarm goes off at 5:30 a.m. next week.

I LOVE the elementary ESL kids. I did 2 weeks last year in a combined 2nd/3rd grade ESL class and it was such a lovely two weeks. Almost NO discipline problems, just the usual little kid chatting or wiggling, etc. That I can deal with. It's the defiance and rudeness that makes me crazy and I almost never get that from the 2nd language kids.

Have fun!

I feel your pain with your alarm. However, I don't have to get up til 6:30, but I hate it every time!

Good luck...2nd day of school sounds a little difficult.

The ESL/Bilingual classes are, without exception, more well-behaved than the gen ed classes. Most all of the parents here (Texas) are from Mexico, and still hold teachers in very high regard. It certainly shows in their kids.

I'm lining up jobs now, got about a dozen today from teacher requests. I'm also getting late calls for interviews for long term sub jobs. I've got the first two days for a teacher (request) who is taking her daughter to college.

Sounds like you're in a roll. I have a possible long term, but haven't heard anything concrete yet.
