if you don't know this book, you need to read it! It is awesome. I use it to review cause and effect with my 6th graders. We all create a page...

Yes, I have used it with Title I (3rd grade) for many years. After reading, I pass out a graphic organizer with the starting phrase for each page, so students fill it out to write their own. Then I pass out paper with two lines at the bottom and the rest blank for a drawing. We combine them into books. Some years they are tribute books for their teachers. Great book!

Which one is it?

I went on Amazon to buy the book but both titles are available:

Fortunately, Unfortunately by Michael Foreman
Fortunately by Remy Charlip

They seem to be similar to each other. I don't know which one to buy.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Fortunately is the name of the book....
Sorry, I always call it the wrong thing because I use if for fortunately/unfortunately activity.

The author is Remy Charlip for the one I use, dated from the 60s.

And would you believe that I have my copy from the 60's when my teacher read it to me? Great book!! I haven't used it for awhile. Thanks for the reminder.

I don't use any templates. I read the book to my kids and totally turn them loose to create any page they want. I often offer extra credit if they want to make additional pages.

I also like That's Good, That's Bad by Margery Cuyler and Suddenly by Colin McNaughten. Both of those books are similar to Fortunately/Unfortunately. Fun books the kids definitely enjoy!

I use it in first grade. The kids come up with some cute fortunately/unfortunately stories.
