You know THAT committee? The one I told my coworker that I could never be on because I would have a hard time controlling my mouth? Well, I was sweet-talked by my principal to be on THAT committee. How have you dealt with situations when you REALLY want to say something, but shouldn't?

Any chance he put you on the committee because he wants someone to speak out?

I either speak my mind or put a blowpop in my mouth. I am a pen clicker when angry so I stick with a mechanical pencil.

Some battles I deal with and others I let go. If I feel no one else has spoken my thoughts I take a deep breath and speak as professionally as I can about anything I disagree with or see a potential problem with.

Good luck and I like keltikmomís thought.

Keltikmom, that thought didn't occur to me. That could be true. And I love the blue ribbon!

WEll, this might sound bad but...

I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut too. Like a really really REEEEEAAALLLY hard time.

Now if I have to keep my mouth shut, I say that I am taking notes and instead busy myself with something on my Chromebook. If I am listening, I cant keep it in so I need to stop listening entirely the minute the conversation goes certain ways.

"Keep your mouth shut." I just say that to myself over and over and plaster a fake smile on my face. I have never regretted NOT saying something. However, I can kick myself for all the times I spoke the truth or common sense. That never goes over well at our district. Never.

I don't have as much difficulty controlling my mouth as I do my facial expressions. I'm working on it. I learned a few tips at a Fred Jones training years ago and it has helped.

If something is truly wrong or unethical, I speak up, and I am usually tactful and professional. Where I go wrong is when someone is discourteous in response, and I neglect to take a breath and think before I reply. Yeah, I've really put my foot into it a few times.

I'm guessing Keltikmom is on the right track, you P may want a different perspective or another voice on the committee if is unbalanced.
