Early release!

Big snow expected around normal release time, so we let out at 11 this morning. Whoo hoo! It was snowing this morning, nothing now, but it is supposed to come.

Last year we didn't close early enough, and buses got stuck in the snow, and some kids were on the bus until 8 p.m. That was not nice.

As I was driving home in 40 degree sprinkles, it did feel a bit like the district panicked, but given last year’s mess it’s understandable!

Making a yummy lunch now and then catching up on all the work I was supposed to do this weekend.

I know where you all are. I was glad not to relive last year's fiasco. And I liked being home to watch the snow come down - crossing my fingers for tomorrow!

I think Vancouver has closed for tomorrow already. Hopefully we all will too. It has finally just started to accumulate at my house.

I don’t know about you, but my mental health did a big thank you for today’s snow day. Took a long walk with the dog this morning in the pretty snow, and had a lovely nap in the afternoon. Crossing my fingers for a late-open tomorrow.

Am I crazy to be hoping for another snowday tomorrow? I mean, this city does not know how to operate snowplows, so two hours probably won't help much...

Secretly I want a snow day too, but I also don't want to push 100th day (was supposed to be next Wednesday) back any farther. It is always hard to come back from time off, however. If I could vote at 6 a.m., I'd be voting for a snow day!!

I hear you. Our 100th day was Tuesday, but with early realease we ended up not being able to do most of the planned activities, so we’ll have to do them on... Friday. Hopefully.

Wait, my 100th day was last Thursday. (Day after Valentine's, day before Lunar New Year! )And I'm...uh, pretty sure I actually counted right this year. How are you both so far off from me?

I’d gladly take a delay! I agree, pdxteacher, my mental health was rejoicing! And now a two day week plus less planning for next week since I had to bump a bunch of stuff to next week.

And grav_def! Good to “see” you! I feel like I haven’t seen you around the board recently.

Thanks, Gromit! I've lurked a bit, but haven't posted much in awhile.

Gresham Barlow has already called a 2-hour delay... This doesn't affect me, but it's a hopeful sign.

Hi grav_dev - Yep I've counted correctly too, but kindergarten in our district starts a week after the older grades as we meet each family one-on-one for an hour that first week. We started with Kinders the Monday after Labor Day.

Just a 2-hour delay for us all today, I think. It was okay. We got more snow than yesterday, but still just a delay. Once I got to school and got over the disappointment of not vegging out today, it was good. I hope you all had a good day too.

I think every day should start at 9:30

Tomorrow will be hard what with having to work a full day and all.

I was just cranky about being at work today! And my spouse just rolls his eyes and shakes his head while I check the weather app.
