Special ed. collaborators hide from subs!

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Several have mentioned about collaborators not being in the room with the students. Yes they do have ARC meetings and other stuff. But they have a PLANNING period also. I do wished they would be in the room. Especially if there are serious behavior problems. At the school I usually sub the most, they act like I do a good enough job that they don't need to be there.

Do they only have meetings when subs are present? Do they only have to leave early or do paperwork when subs are present. I go by their rooms when the regular teacher is present and the paras and collaborators are in the room.

I once told a teacher across the hall that the group was pretty rowdy and she told me that Ms. X is supposed to be in there. Come on, collaborators, some of these classes are a 2 person job.

One time the assistant principal called and asked for a collaborator. I said she isn't here and he said HMMMMM!!!

I was subbing in MS (5th grade) and there was a student who (extremely mellow) would just sit at his table all day (looking out the window)...I got the heads up from his "support teacher" that he would not be able to see the student because his schedule was already full with OTHER students in the school and that he would check in in a while...UHHH.....it was after 12pm when he came in and took the student....

basically, the student sat at his desk all day and did squat
