Aside from the usual (washing your hands, using purell, etc.) what are you doing to keep from getting sick this year? Let's hear everyone's ideas!

I am trying to get more sleep and taking vitamins. I'm also REALLY trying not to touch my face or my hair until I get home from school. (have a habit of pushing my hair off my face)

In addition to all the things kjuda mentioned, I also try to leave a window open a little, leave the door open, so there's a cross draft, so I'm not breathing concentrated "exhale" from the little darlings. I let fresh air in. probably not the best thing for the heating bill... but the reason virus's spike in the winter is that we are all closed in together.

If I see a student with finger up nose, I quietly send them to wash hands.

I've also noticed that some teachers have Lysol spray in their room; I've used a lot of it whenever I noticed a lot of students coughing/sneezing in one particular part of the room. I;m going to bring my own little bottle of Lysol and spray it; just getting over a bad cold and I really don't need to be sick again for a while.

That's a GREAT idea! Fresh air does make a difference. I think during recess when the kids are out of the room I might try opening all the windows to bring in new air. Thanks for the idea! Keep 'em coming!

I'm getting my flu shot today. How many of us are also considering the H1N1 vaccine, also? I must admit, I am not convinced I will get that one. Too new, produced too quickly, and I well remember the old swine flu vaccine from 20 some years ago where everyone got really sick from it: moi, aussi!

I bought some Oil of Oregano capsules and Vitamin C. I am trying to do the other suggested ideas as the PP state. I am not sure about the H1N1 shot, though I did take the regular one as usual.

Woke up this morning fighting a bad cold. The kids I've been with all week have been little germ manufacturing machines, complete with runny noses, sneezing, coughing, and nose-picking! Washed my hands til they were raw... Purelled the heck out of them, too, to no avail. And tomorrow I have 3rd graders.... hope I feel okay in the morning.
