Good afternoon to all-
Just got back this morning from a very nice little kayak float and fishing trip to a gorgeous creek here on the Gulf Coast. The weather was great this morning- got up to about 70 at noon- chilly when I left, but warmed up nicely.
I managed to fool quite a few fish and brought three nice ones home- they'll either go in a gumbo or I'll deep fry them with onion rings and bell pepper rings.
It's days like this one that make me very happy I managed to make retirement- most of my buddies from work are still in the saddle, and they don't like to hear about my weekday fishing trips.
So, that's how my day went. No stress, no worry, no making arrangements for holidays. I like this retirement thing a whole lot.
good day to all- Ed

Your descriptions of retirement joys are a pleasure to read! I'm sure it was much more fun to get fish from a gorgeous creek than from a supermarket. Tastier, too!

Good evening to all-
I took the very fresh fillets from yesterday's fishing trip and grilled them on the Big Green Egg- just beat the start of the heavy rains we've had most of the day.
Then we made fish tacos with mango salsa, cheese, and cilantro for lunch.
I do love me some fish tacos when they're done right- and these were.
There's much to be said for having fresh fish on hand most of the time.
Good night to all- Ed

Just got back this morning from a very nice little walk to my granddaugher's friend's house here on the New England coast.
The weather was FREEZING this morning- got up to about 20 at noon-but I warmed up nicely after I got back and turned up the heat to 80 and piled blankets on me. (Winter in NE is not for old people from NJ)
We managed to fool a fir tree into coming home with us and brought it home by my son tossing it over his shoulder and dragging it back and up a full flight of stairs. (Yes, we do have a car, yes we could have driven and tied it to the roof, but this is NE and that's not the way Yankee's do things)
I did enjoy a delicious lobster roll for lunch.
It's days like this one that makes me think I am an IDIOT to even visit my family in the winter.
So, that's how my day went.

I do LOVE the posts you write! I do envy you not having the damp freezing cold weather we have up north.
You sound like an amazing cook. I can bake well, but my cooking skills are not on par with yours. I love to hear about your skills in the kitchen.

Ed,

This snowbound flyfisherman in Maine enjoyed the description of your fishing trip. I must admit I'm a bit envious as well. In my first year of retirement I haven't hit my stride yet but I think I will when the open water trout ponds of May arrive.

Make a couple casts for me please.

Good morning to all-
FFG- Yep, I understand about being winter-bound this time of year. We used to live in Missouri, and even though its winter weather is nothing like Maine's, it was still too miserable for me to venture out to go fishing. I'd spend a lot of time in ownter staring out a window and thinking about how folks were catching fish in 70 degree weather down here on the coast.
So we graduated the two oldest kids from high school, sent them to college, and then held an auction and sold everything we owned except for a truck load of books and cooking supplies and headed south.
We've never regretted the move.
I can fish all year long, we have garden stuff all year long, and we almost never see snow.
It was a good move, I do believe.
I hope everyone has a fine end of the weekend today.
Ed
