Suggestions???

I am currently the GI instructor for our school district. This year we are fortunate enough to have 4th and 5th graders from 9-2:30. We have 1st - 3rd 2 hours. With all of the monetary upheaval, the district of course is trying to do more with less. I am not for sure what direction they are taking it next year, but my feeling is they want it done in smaller time frames.

What would be some suggestions if I only have 30 minutes or so with my gifted kids? I am feeling as though it will not be beneficial to them at all!

If you have done a program like this or have ANY ideas at all...I'd be most appreciative!

What beautiful boxers in your avatar!

I don't really have any suggestions but just think that is so sad. By the time they got in and settled... Maybe something with vocabulary or a novel project they could work on a little bit each day? What a bummer for the kiddos!

Thank you...we think our "boys" our the best!

Thanks for the suggestions...just hoping that whatever decision they make will be soon so that I can formulate a plan for learning.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

How about having them form a Reciprocal Teaching group. My third graders of all levels can do it, and your gifted group can really challenge each other with their questioning. It's great for the time constraints you have, as they just do as much as they have time for, then continue the next day. Takes some practice, but once they learn the technique, it's great.
