I saw that. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Gov. Kasich's plans to run for president? I'm a little concerned about what they'll rush to replace it with, but I certainly won't miss PARCC!

I won't miss it either! I have the same concerns as roo. Also, they did nothing to the SS and Science tests which had "PARCC like" questions. Another year of trying to prepare lessons for students and not knowing what to expect. Still so many questions...

I completely think this is about his run for President. That said, I will NOT miss that test.

From what I read they should have the new tests ready by the spring. Does that mean our third graders only have one try to pass during the school year for the TGRG?

I saw that on the news this evening. My only concern is that it has been mentioned that the PARCC might be replaced with the AIR, and I have no idea what that is like. At least there will be less testing time!

Actually I heard on NPR yesterday mention of returning to Achievement testing for the end of the year. No mention of online or paper/pencil though.
Not sure what it means for 3rd graders either.

AIR it is. I wonder what this means for our third graders!?

One article mentioned AIR was the creator of OAA. If this is the case hopefully test will be similar. On otherhand i heard AIR created Smarter Balance test...grrrrrrr

Another yr of the unknown!

Here in Florida we had a similar situation (except we never did PARCC, did Ohio do it once?). We were supposed to have PARCC this year and then last summer they worked with AIR to create the Florida Standards Assessment (FSA) but we didn't have any official resources until a month or two before testing.

Not sure what 3rd graders need to do in Ohio but in Florida they are required to pass the test in 3rd grade or be retained. Despite this year being a "baseline" year for the new test, we were told that retention was still going to be in place. However, at the last minute, we were given a list of different assessments that we could use to promote 3rd graders this year. If they proved proficiency on ANY of these assessments, then they are promoted.

This year was all over the place for sure.
