I was told that I can get a grant funded for up to $400 for my classroom....I just don't know what to request! We have a projector and document camera, wish I could write for a Smart board, but that's WAY more than $400. I teach 4th grade. I was leaning towards some kind of technology, but it doens't have to be that. What would you want to get?

I had an interactive tablet - this looked like an iPad, but it was wireless to my computer. I could use it with any interactive program on my whiteboard. I passed it around the class and the kids could interact too. I could do almost anything with it that I eventually did with my SmartBoard and it was not terribly expensive - your $400 might cover it now. This was 3 years ago. Maybe you could try one out before actually buying it.

What about writing a grant for a Nook. The Nook color is about $249. You would have money left over to download books for your nook. My friend is planning to write a grant next year for this idea. I thought it was brilliant. She plans to send it home with students on a rotating basis or send home for students who are missing school for sickness. I think in this day, our students are digital natives and would appreciate this approach to reading.

A slate that would allow you to move around the room that you could use in conjunction with your projector would be fun. I saw an eInstruction mobi at a conference recently and was impressed.
