fire in a song?

I am working on a memory DVD for my kids. We had a visit from firefighters. I am looking for a song that would be good to run in the background while the pics from that event play. Any ideas?

(Some I have found are of an inappropriate nature for kids, anyways,)

They Call me the Fireman -George Strait

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2NFkCNIDxI

Don't know about appropriateness, but it's the first thing I thought of...

I made my DVD today too! It took me hours! I hope it goes faster for you!

Mr. Nicky has a song called Fireman. It's a little weird but it might work! The only reservation you might have is that it does mention a cigarette - he puts it out with a hose.

You can preview/buy it on Amazon or iTunes. Here's the iTunes link: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss...efix=mr.+nicky

If you just want the word fire, the others that I have are, "Standing Outside the Fire" by Garth Brooks or "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor but I can't be perfectly sure about the lyrics. I'd look them up before using them.

I just keep hearing the chorus: "the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire!"

Not sure what it's from or if it helps, but that's what comes to my mind

Funny, TeachNut! I have a preschooler at home, so all I hear is "5 little firefighters sleeping in a row. Ring goes the bell, down the pole they go......"

That was the one that came to my mind first as well, but the next line of that song is, "We don't need no water let the mother f***er burn. Burn mother f***er, burn". I think that falls under "inappropriate".

The only song I can think of is "Through the Fire" by Chaka Khan. I can't think of any inappropriate parts of the song; it's a nice love song, I think.

There's a kids' song "Hurry, Hurry Drive the Firetruck." I can't remember who sang it- either Barney or the Wiggles, so maybe too "babyish" for elementary kids.

"Fire" by the Ohio Players-Probably not appropriate for school, but I enjoyed it in '74 and '75.

Light My Fire by the Doors-another inappropriate

Fire Down Below-Bob Seger

Ring of Fire-Johnny Cash

Never mind...none of these are appropriate and all I'm doing is dating myself.

Evergreen - I love the Talking Heads!

What about "Aiko, Aiko" (or "Iko, Iko") - you know, "Your grandma and my grandma sitting by the fire/ your grandma says to my grandma I'm gonna set your flag on fire/"

Scholastic has a read and sing book series and one of the books is called "Fire Truck" It is actually one of the favorite songs of my students each year. I just checked and it is on itunes for 99 cents. Look under Fire Truck! by Ivan Ulz. The album is Songs From the Old School.

I finally decided on...

I Want to be a Fireman (http://www.kidsongs.com/lyrics/i-wan...a-fireman.html). It is a litle on the childish side, I think, but it works. Most of what I found was either way not ok for kids - or for what their parents might think when they watch - or way too childish. Bucket, I debated about the fire truck one.

This is my first time making a photo memory disk (DVD) instead of just a PowerPoint to be shared in class. I have the file created now. I just need to burn the discs now.

I thought of "Disco Inferno"; or "Hot, Hot, Hot", and then of course, I thought about Rhianna's song with Eminem, but we all know that's not appropriate - interesting song, though. There's an old round called "Scotland's Burning" that I sometimes do with my choir.

And, "Ring of Fire" - Johnny Cash.
