What do you really want?

Forget world peace for now, what do you really want for you? New shoes? New car? Toilet-trained child? Furry puppy? A trip to Portugal? Iím in the wonderful position of being retired and needing less stuff, but I really really want 2 things:
1. I want to lose 5 pounds.
2. I want to see migrating whales from my balcony.

What do you want for yourself?

1. Not deal with recurring anxiety
2. A beach house, with money to fly out whenever I want

It's simple, really. . And I think #2 would help #1.

1. To be retired, haha! ( probably 4 more years)

2. To lose 10 lbs ( which is really not cooperating unfortunately)

3. To have meals magically appear that I don't have to think about or make.

1. I really want to trade my car in. I don't need to and I'm not going to, but I really want to. I have a CR-V and my DH is 6'5" tall. It was fine when our kids were very small, but now that they are getting tall like him, it's a tight fit.

2. I really want to lose about 20 pounds. More than that would be great, but I would look so much better if I could lose about 20.

Iíve seen whales on a balcony from a cruise ship in Alaska! Very cool.

My 2 things:

1. Lose 20 lbs... I would love to be back to a size 2.

2. An Audi...

1. I want my kids to sleep. The 3 year old is still waking up most nights and the 4 month old won't sleep at all at night unless he's in my bed - and even with me he's still up a lot.

2. I want to have a job to go back to after mat leave, leading to a contract and some semblance of job security.

This post prompted me to think about my response. Its not about things for me...

1) Spend time with my adorable 2 month old granddaughter.

2) Hang with my adult boys and their wives.

3) Its windy and rainy right now but I want to go for my daily walk. Wahhh!

4) Watch the migrating whales on Amigas beautiful balcony.

I want to lose 15 lbs and get rid of those love handles that I do not love!

Long range, I want to have grandchildren who live close enough so I can be involved in their everyday lives. Iíd really love both sons to live within driving distance, but I donít see my older son and dil moving from Austin.

So...I want a winter home in Austin so I can be close to the future Texan grands!

I want to love to exercise. I currently hate it and my body needs it.
I want to feel good about myself. That require some more weight loss, but to love myself even before that happens.

I like these fun threads! We can forget our problems for a few minutes.

Probably in this particular order starting with the most important:

- feel like I did back in Jan 2017
- fiance' and I want to lose weight
- all bills/debt paid off
- get married
- own a home
- new car for (new) husband and I BOTH
- travel more
- fancy office chair
- French bulldog
- a few new clothes, shoes, bags, sunglasses

1. My lower back to stop hurting. I had knee replacement surgery 3 months ago and my knee feels great, but it has thrown my SI joint out of whack.

2. A puppy -- can't have one because I am very, very allergic.

3. Tropical vacation

1. To know my current job will remain funded for a couple more years. I don't want to go back to a regular classroom.

2. I am gaining weight and can't seem to get control of it. I would like to lose the 10 pounds I have found. More would be nice, but that would get me into my pants.

These are the main things I want for myself:
  • my mom to not have dementia
  • money to fix the roof, keep water out of my basement and repair driveway/garage floor so I will eventually be able to sell my house when I retire and buy a house that is better suited for my mom to come live with me (no steps, walk in shower for her...)
  • someone I can trust to guide me with financial decisions (college loans repayments, eventually buying a newer car-current one is almost 20 years old) and deal with the legal issues I have with my insurance company and the remediation company regarding the above ground oil tank leak on my property this past summer. (They haven't even started the remediation.)
  • my younger son to get a decent paying job that is fulfilling for him and gives him responsibility and independence.
  • my older son and dil to visit more often and maybe eventually have grandchildren

I'll tell you what I want what I really really want.... (Spice Girls moment)

-I want to keep making healthy choices. I'm down 20 lbs so far, and am beginning to feel better. I need to keep on going!
-I want to keep going with some professional goals I've set. I need to remind myself there will be bumps along the way and that's alright.
-I want to get DH to zoom in more on his own health.

I want
Old 02-23-2020, 09:17 AM

I want to finally clean out the stuff in my cellar. Most of it was from a classroom I left almost 3 years ago.

I want to live closer to work and other stuff "in town."

I want to find a work out class that engages me, is cheap, is close by and has a class right after school through the week.

I want my student loan forgiveness to finally come through. I have been battling this since the end of last school year.

I want to find a group to truly belong to within my church. It is an amazing congregation, but I have yet to find my niche within the larger group.

Like any good Outlander book and show fan, I want to go to Scotland.

I want my cat to let me clip her claws sooner rather than later. I pay more for her mani pedis than I do for my mani pedis.

I want my DD to find work that makes her happy and utilizes her skills and talents and pays well.

I want to make sure that my family and my brotherís family continue to be a part of each otherís lives since our sister passed away ( and we lost our parents years ago.) I want to get together more than on holidays and weddings etc.

Interesting question, I neede to think about it for a bit.
1. I would like a true, good friend. I have friends but not anyone I feel completely safe with. Maybe that says something about me, or I just haven't found the right friend yet.
2. Happiness and contentment in my life. There are a few major things up in the air right now and I don't feel in control of what is coming next.

I'd really like to be out of debt and able to pay all of my kid's college. Not realistic but it's what I want!

Otherwise, I'd just like time to stop for a bit. I love my job and personally feel very balanced and satisfied, dh and I are in a good place, and I'd like a little more time with dd before she graduates.

I would really like it if my son and his family lived closer to us, instead of all the way across the US in California. It would be so nice to see our only grandchild as she grows and changes so quickly. She's 4 already!

I would like to get a new car and not have a car payment.

I would also like to lose about 20 pounds without all that entails. Just like magic!

1. I want to move to a more remote place where I don't have near neighbors.

2. I want to visit Quebec, in particular the area near Montreal which was home to my French-Canadian ancestors and where I, apparently, still have distant relatives.

3. I want to be completely done with teaching. No part-time job, no subbing.

Unfortunately, 1. and 2. are only possible if I forget about 3. in the near future.

I'm sure I have a wish list a mile long, but here are a few:

I want my boys to find direction (this is probably foremost on my mind)
I want to find balance in my own life (not hard at all, right? )
I want to lose 20 lb

putting those out there, universe! I'm probably doing the least about the third one right now, so I get that I'm probably not very deserving of that one being granted

- A daughter
- If weíre dreaming... to pay off my house and car
- To Travel outside of North America

I have a bucket list that I started years ago, itís quite long, and I try to check off multiple items a year. Some are big items so it will take time to get them all done.

I wish that I could sit and look out at water on a more regular basis. I'm insanely fortunate to be able to do so in the summer and I think this week I'll have the opportunity to have a good solid month sitting overlooking the water in Maine. I wish it wasn't just the summer though.
I wish I could afford newer furniture in my house. Everything I have is functional so there are other priorities but still...I wish I had an unlimited budget for that.
Ooh, I have to add: I hope that DD gets a part she wants in a community theater production.

I want a full time organizer/cleaner. Someone to follow me around And take care of stuff. I have ADHD and organization is my biggest issue. Iím a serial starter. I have a lot of projects ďin processĒ My home is clean but I have some areas that are completely organized by piles. Home and school. I can find most anything I need quickly but my crafts and interests are taking over.

My DS is the same way.

I have already lost 50 pounds within this past year and may lose a few more even though I probably donít need to. So what I want is:

1. To be able to turn my neck like a normal person so people will stop asking why it is not all better after physical therapy and endless massages.

2. To do more with my music and acting and hope that my age will not affect that.

3. More friends to do things with.

Well, I am on the list of wanting to lose weight. These last 6 months have not made it easy with a knee injury and not exercising.

1. Lose weight

2. Complete healing of knee (really not possible, but completely functional would work - I'm improving with physical therapy, so that's a good thing.)

3. For my son with ASD to be able to work full-time and move out.

4. Retirement? I am still conflicted on this one. The money (or lack of) worries me.

5. A beach condo would be great!!

6. Travel!!

I 'd love about five acres in the woods with a modest home for each of my two children as well as one for my dh and I. We could share a garden area and grow our own fruit and vegetables.

* more time at our house in a central coast beach community
* a gardener who will work with me pulling weeds and trimming. I still want to do some of the work.
* a few friends who live where I do.

*.... all 3 of my adult children to be happy with their careers, find the love of their life, and reconnect with Christ.

I know that seems like something for someone else, but it would honestly bring ME great happiness.

I want to lose weight and not find it again.
I also want to see whales from my porch. However I live in the midwest so that's never going to happen, but hey, it's a want

Right now my big wants all revolve around work. I want:
  • To finish taking classes (done in May)
  • I want to pass the big certification test
  • I want a job in my new field (still education)
  • I want the legislature to fund our raises (should pull our state out of the absolute bottom for teacher pay when adjusted for cost of living)

Personally I want:
  • To lose about 15 pound
  • To run a 10k
  • Pasta...I always want pasta

Edited to add wants now that I saw others...I want
My son to stay here for college. He will probably have to move to the mainland to get a job once he is done.
I want more jobs in my area so my kids can live here. I really don’t want to have to move once my kids start having kids
I would love to have a ocean view and live within walking distance to the beach and NOT live in a tsunami zone.
I want a best friend that lives near me
I want my DH to take better care of his health and to lose the belly

*I want to live at the beach. (That would entail my whole moving with me, so not going to happen but a girl can dream.)

*I want this last 15 pounds to go away at a faster pace.

*I want my house to be neat and tidy like all my friends' houses. Why does mine always seem so cluttered?? Theirs look like magazines.

*I want my husband to care about his weight/health.

*I want to be debt-free.

How realistic are we going here? Of course I could say I want to lose weight (and I am currently losing) but if we're talking about what I reallywant, I've always wanted to be either:
a) A person who can eat whatever they want and remain thin
b) A person who doesn't really care about food/"forgets to eat"

Possibly more realistically, like a pp said I'd like to have more really close friends. I moved to a new state to teach many years ago. I used to have a really close group of girlfriends, but a couple of years ago the two I was closest to moved away and others drifted apart for various reasons. Last year I made a new year's resolution to start attending meetup events again and really put some effort into making friends. I now have some people to hang out with and have been invited to things outside of the meetup events, but I still don't have really close friends like I used to have. For example, I honestly don't know who I could call in an emergency and that's something that really bothers me.

What I Want

I want to find a wonderful townhouse in a good location to rent.

DH and I are ready to downsize and put our house on the market. We are recently retired and trying to figure out next steps, so we aren't ready to purchase anything yet.

My realtor sent me a great listing, and I plan to go there this week.

What I want are the two things I am working on.
1. Lose 20 pounds-I rejoined Weight Watchers and have lost 5 pounds so far.
2. Declutter and keep the house that way.
