I was thinking something similar to this:
http://firstgradefoundme.blogspot.co...-is-ready.html

My son's K teacher did it and posted them outside in the hall as she received them. It looks like she linked with 25 other teachers, deciding who would be which letter and then that class did 26 of them. Example: letter G--Gumball machine with gum picture, drawn/colored. You mail them out and post when you are doing that letter...

I used to teach K and 2nd and we were in a postcard exchange where we exchanged postcards with people from all over the US, one from each state. I thought this was a little much for my new assignment, PRE K so thought this might be more their speed

Alphabet Letter Exchange

I had my class participate in this year before last. They loved getting mail from all over the country. We would post them on the inside of our classroom door where I had drawn a chicka, chicka boom boom tree. Then on a fabric map, we used a stick pin to show where we had gotten letters from. This gave us an opportunity to talk about the US map and the distance from our school the letter traveled in the mail.

All of my kids that year knew all of their letters by the end of the 1st 6 weeks. When a big deal is made about each letter and its decorated, they tend to remember its name and sound easier.

On that exchange, we did both the capital/lowercase letters and decorated them accordingly. We made 26 sets of that letter team (ex. Aa), kept one and mailed out 25 of them. We were given guidelines as to the size of the letters and that they had to be mailed out by Sept 15.

If you decide to do an alphabet exchange, I would love to join you.
