Boy names.

I'm looking for a boy name for baby 2 and I have a few ideas but I want to know which ones to stay away from!

What boy names have you come across that have consistently been naughty or just trouble?

The worst I have had:
Austin
Jackson
David

I have no suggestions for you, but I am laughing my butt off about your list! I'm married to one, one is my nephew, and the other is my best work friend! Too funny!

Kyle. Last year was the year of the Kyles: Crazy Kyle and Creepy Kyle
Nathan: Bullied son#3, dealt drugs, and was finally expelled his senior year.
Justin: I've known some wonderful Jason's, but even more who were not.

I can deal with any boys' names other than Nathan, though.

My teacher friends and I have a running joke about J names and naughty kids. Probably best to avoid the whole letter...

Tyler and Trevor
and I am not the only one, the other first grade teachers have reported other boys with these names were difficult.

When my DD was pregnant she worked with children and both her DH and I were teachers, we went through 2 baby name books before we could agree on a name because we all had bad vibes towards many, many names. and she named her boy one of the names listed above!!! (He is in 4th grade now and is a good boy in school however)

definitely Jayden (or Jaiden, however it is written, it spells trouble)

Also I've had bad luck with Dylan (boy or girl) and Connor. I've had trouble James boys too.

We always knew what names teachers at my old school would not use!!

Damien - really, you're just asking for trouble with that one, take out extra insurance.
Anakin - seriously, why name your child after someone who voluntarily went over to the dark side???
Justin/Jared/Jeremy... Just stay away from anything that starts with J (maybe Jake is OK, my son is named Jake and he's a good kid, working on his PhD right now and never been in jail!!! )
Kyle - just typing that makes me want a drink, one of these days we're going to see that name on the news, and it won't be good.

Any name that starts with J
Old 10-28-2015, 06:46 PM

We had an inservice a few years ago for behavior intervention strategies. The speaker told us (tongue in cheek, of course) to watch out for all kids whose hames start with J. Funny thing was, both our principal and assistant principal's names started with J.
My most difficult kids' names have been:
  • Jack
  • Jacob
  • Dakota
  • Aiden
  • Tyler
  • Owen

Old 10-28-2015, 07:44 PM

This is totally true in my experience. I've had a couple of nice boys with J names, but many that were very difficult kids. I'd say you have a 50/50 chance of major problems with a boy with a J name. Those aren't good odds. Avoid!

Mostly agree with J names except my DS is Jacob and he's a great kid. When I was pregnant we had a hard time picking names because if former students. Worst kids I've had were Brent and Alex. DH wanted Brett but even that was too close.

Jacob - it was a popular name for boys a few years ago. Every Jacob I had was a behavior issue. Now my Jaiden/Jayden/Jaden boys are stirring up trouble that gets everyone worked up.

and the night mares are stopping but these quickly come to mind

JUSTIN
Jacob
Jordon
Seth (devious)

In defense of other J named students

Jack was a great kid and now a senior with high honors
Jace is a super kid and well liked by MS teachers

I posted this before but my daughter tried out names:
rocking a pillow and cooing the name
cheering it GO _____ GO!
standing at the front door yelling "first middle last name you get out of the street RIGHT NOW!

Wonder any names left for you to use?

I have a superb Nathan this year. I would take him home with me!

Sean and Aiden are names from our school.

I haven't had trouble with the J names.

Top two who were truly awful and I'm 100% sure I'll see on the news someday:

Logan
Isaac

Better but still not great:

Jeremiah
Kayden
Andrew
Gregory
Angel (both boys and girls - they're never angels!)

Never had a Nicholas ot Nick who could behave.
Triston is trouble with a capital "T", for real.
Seriously had a chold named Damien one year. It was unfortunate that he lived up to the repuation that does alson with the name.
I have to agree with most "J" names - although I've had some good Jacksons, but most anything ending with "son" (Gregson, greyson, Anson) all seem to be trouble to me.

I came here to say Jaydn/Jaden/Jaydyn,/J'Den, but that was covered several times in the first 10 replies!!! Heed the Jaden warning!!!!!

Also: Thomas and Christopher! (Both former students, but also family names...)

On the other hand, I've had multiple Michaels who were all amazing!

Gabe
Dylan *
Chip
Jacob *
Derrick
Elliott
Chance *
Kyle *
Connor *
Blu/Blue *
Jaden (variations) *
Nick
Tyler *
Cody*
Cameron *
Ethan*
Chevy

Andrew ***++++ (all my Andrews have been kids who would have had EPIs in a public school with parents in total denial) I drank a lot of Guiness pints after teaching (or trying to) those Andrews.

Brooke
Zach * (variations)

Any kid with a name from a character from Star Wars, Star Trek, or Avatar.

Oh yeah...

Luke/Lucas
Harrison
Kirk*
Scott*

* = more the three kids with a name, that made my eye twitch.

Bonus round...you made up your kid's name, and there is no way any English speaker can guess it. It's not a variation on any known human language. The parents are usually a PITA, and betting odds 50/50 the kid might be too. So save your screed to the administration that the teacher can't say or spell Xhenzzffghiellehai. <-----I made this one up, but have had others about as easy to spell.

Made up names no know social, economic or racial boundaries. I have had made up names from parents who pull in over a million a year to someone on assistance.

I have enjoyed this thread soooo much!! Seems like the consensus is that J names are out. But, my son's name is Joshua and he is soo sweet but when he was young he was definitely a handful But at 16, he is an angel. !! I hope you have some names left to use. lol.
