I am getting ready to invest in personal dictionaries for my students. I want the kind that already have a few words preprinted but also has lines for my kids to add their own words. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

When I used Saxon Phonics in the past, students were given individual dictionaries. I saved them once we did away with the program. But I have my students share some of these still today. I have added many words through the years. I really like them.

has one called My Writing Words. We save them at the end of the year and pass on to the third grade teachers.

I used Saxon Phonics years ago when I taught first grade. Loved it.

I also have used the ones from Really Good Stuff. They have a good number of words.

Scholastic used to have a book. Not sure what it was called, but it had personal dictionaries in it. You just photocopied and put them together. Personally, I would not spend any money, except for the paper to print them on. It would be pretty easy to create a half page for each letter and make lines. Make a cute cover, and you are done.
