What do you add to your oatmeal?

I am not a huge oatmeal person, but I enjoy old fashioned oats time to time. I have my two standard additions: 1) cinnamon sugar, walnuts, and apple chunks and 2) a huge spoonful of PB.

I want to mix it up a bit. What do you all add to your oatmeal?

I used to put Ovaltine (powder) in to make chocolate oatmeal!

I enjoy my old.fashioned oats with sugar and occasionally I add raisins. Sometimes I break up buttered toast into my oatmeal.

A little brown sugar, pecans, craisins

Oh, and I usually use half milk and half water when I cook the oatmeal (or even all milk)

I just add toasted wheat germ after it's cooked and then milk around the mound. My husband adds wheat germ, chi seeds, cinnamon, blueberries and pb.

DH likes butter and syrup.

I like brown sugar and cinnamon.

Cloves are a nice option, too. We had that in the Dominican Republic. I’d never considered it, but it was good.

TAOEP--I also like it with all milk. It makes it a lot creamier!

I bet this will make most people cry out in sympathy, but I'm allergic to chocolate! It upsets my stomach and haven't had it for decades. Maybe someone else will read your suggestion and add it to their oatmeal!

don't add as much water as you're supposed to, lots of brown sugar, and then a little milk to add back moisture and get the sugar all gooey and melted! yum!

I like to stir in some sweetened coconut and usually add a little brown sugar. DH adds raisins or some other dried fruit to his oatmeal.

I love overnight oats! In a Mason jar, I shake up plain Greek yogurt with unsweetened almond milk, then add rolled oats, chia seeds, and some fresh fruit (bananas, blueberries, strawberries, etc.) It's zero added sugar, filling, yummy, and nutritious.

Since it's blueberry season right now, I add a handful of freshly picked blueberries. So yummy! No need for sugar or anything else.

I like to add 1/2 cup of pumpkin purée or 1/2 cup of applesauce with some cinnamon and almond milk. If I use the applesauce sometimes I will add some diced apple.

Lately I have been adding plain Greek yogurt instead of almond milk and it gives it a nice tang.

Sometimes I make the Hungry Girl growing oatmeal, but I make it at night and then reheat in the morning.

I cook either blueberries or shredded/diced apples along with the oatmeal, then top with cinnamon and maple syrup.

I also like overnight oats with yogurt and raspberries.

I don't care for oatmeal but DH and all 3 DSs eat it daily. My family likes a variety of additions such as:
brown sugar and raisins
cinnamon sugar
Craisins and white chips
Strawberry jam
Sliced almonds and craisins
Applesauce, cinnamon, and brown sugar
And always made with milk. I don't think they have had peanut butter, I will have to suggest that.

I've made a lot of oatmeal and don't even eat the gloppy stuff. .

Just mentioned this thread to my DH when suggesting adding peanut butter to his morning oatmeal routine. He took it one step further and wants to add brown sugar, vanilla, peanut butter, M&Ms, and raisins to make monster cookie oatmeal.

Still doesn't sound appealing to me, the texture of oatmeal turns me off.

and prefer the maple-brown sugar ones the most.

I will sometimes buy the "Just Bunches" granola (from Honey Bunches of Oats cereal) and top the cooked oatmeal with that.

I think so many of the suggestions sound great.

I kind of wish I had that problem! Well, not an allergy so much as I wish I didn't like it. I'm not a huge chocolate fiend, though. but I hate cakes and some other types of desserts, so if I could add chocolate, I'd be set up better

I just put salt and butter. I eat oatmeal almost every day. My husband puts in milk and splenda, but none of the kids were ever converted.
