You could wear all gray and just buy ears and a tail for a mouse. You could do the same in black for a cat. Go to your nearest Goodwill or thrift store and find a cheap costume.

If you have Facebook check Marketplace for used costumes. There are great bargains there right now.

I'm all about it being easy to make & easy to wear! Here are some ideas I saw online:

Holy Guacomole ~ angel halo & wings, wear green shirt, print off some avocado pics & attach to shirt.

smartypants ~ attach smarty candy to your pants.

Team costume ~ spice girls ~ print a picture of a spice & attach to an apron.

queen bee ~ wear a crown with bee antennae and a black & white or black & yellow striped shirt or dress.

Queen of hearts ~ wear a red dress/clothes & crown, make a collar out of a deck of cards (staple the cards to a collar shaped paper) & wear around your neck or just attach heart cards to your dress

bread winner ~ Wear sports headband, several first place medals & carry some loaves of bread with you.

Arthur costume ~ wear yellow sweater, jeans, round glasses & make some aardvark ears to attach to a headband.

Smart Cookie ~ Wear a grad cap & gown, attach cookie print-outs.

Error 404 ~ print or attach letters to a shirt that says "Error 404 Costume Not Found".

Wear all black, print a white P to pin to your shirt, black your eye and you're a black-eyed pea.

A friend recently came to Bunko with a shirt that said Blessing and she was wearing a mask (like a superhero) and a cape. She said she was a blessing in disguise.

Wear all black and put a witches hat on. Put white makeup on your face if you like.

There are so many cheap ones now. It really depends on what you already have. You can wear all white and buy a unicorn horn at the Dollar Tree for $1. If you have eye shadow or other colorful make-up, just use that to paint your face in pink/purple/light blue, etc...

There are so many cheap costumes like that at a Dollar Tree - just see what they have and what clothes you have to go with it. That's the easiest thing to do and will only cost you $1. or $2.

Teacher Barbie, one of my favourite costumes, came from my closet:
black pencil skirt
white collared blouse
red belt
black pumps
red hairband
nude tights/nylons

I wore a LOT of eyeshadow, red lipstick and on a schoolboard visitor tag, I taped Teacher Barbie as the name tag. I carried a little purse and walked around most of the day with a vacuous smile.

I really like the Error 404 idea.

I've been a gingerbread girl a few times. Brown t shirt that I've safety pinned 3 large poms down the front and added rickrack to the edges. (I've cut some out of felt and bought a roll before.) I also safety pinned the rickrack to the shirt so that I could still use the shirt.

I usually pull my hair into a pony and use blush to make exaggerated circle cheeks.

Violets, when my daughter was 11, she dressed as The Paper Bag Princess. My gosh, that teeny little feminist LOVED that story!

-Domino: Wear a black shirt and black pants, tape on white felt circles.
-Crayon/Skittle/M&M: Wear all one color, tape on the appropriate logo
-Jelly beans: Blow up balloons, put them in plastic bags that you attach to your shirt.

In Walmart's Halloween section I've found little things for under $5 for school some years, and you don't have to make anything at all. For example, one year there was a little princess set with a tiara/wand/costume jewelry and I just wore that with a nice dress. Other years they've had ears/tail sets for different animals. This year I'm just wearing cat ears and a t shirt with a cat on it. If I'm feeling really festive I might do a nose/whiskers in eyeliner.

Play doh

On Pinterest there is a pin for Halloween Costumes for teachers - and one is for Play Doh. Easy! Where black pants, a yellow short sleeved t-shirt over a black long sleeved turtleneck or shirt, and a Play Doh sign that is worn like a necklace (can be found on Google and printed in color), on your head a colored lid from a pyrex bowl.
