Treat Yourself

Everyone is always saying how “this recipe is a skinny version” or “a healthier alternative to ___ is...” or “cut out some calories by replacing ___ with...”

Just once, I’d like someone to say:

“This recipe is honestly quite terrible for your health. But it absolutely IS as delicious as it looks and you look like you’ve just suffered through Monday two days in a row, so treat yourself and eat up!”

No? Just me?

I'm with ya! If I'm going to eat healthy, I'll eat my chicken breast and veggies. If I want a yummy loaded potato soup, I want the real stuff.

I am doing Noom and am learning to just have less of "the real thing." Nonfat cheese? Yogurt loaded with artifical sweeteners? So-called cookies? Hell no! Give me stuff made with whole milk, butter, sugar...all those things that are so bad and so good!

Those are the days when I say I deserve a drink or two.

Some days I suck and I am not perfect on those day but I survive them.

My mom tried to healthify my favorite bar cookie/cake one year. It did not go over well.

If I’m making something it is the real deal. I will make healthy food but I won’t make frankenfood.

the Pioneer Woman tends to cook foods that are as delicious as they look, and has no problem adding all the good stuff. She has a recipe for Potatoes Au Gratin that is just scrumptious. Butter, cream, whole milk, cheddar cheese.

Oh my gosh, I’ve got people who agree with me and recipes for meatloaf and potatoes. I am obviously set for the other half of this week!

You just HAVE TO HAVE a guilty pleasure sometimes!
