A Very Bad Day

Without getting into too many details, I about lost it on two students today. I told them not to do something and they turned around and did it AND then tried justifying it when I caught them! This was all in a span of 10 seconds.

I have “that” class this year to begin with, but today was unusually bad and I feel horrible about being so angry, but I just can’t help it right now. I feel so disrespected in general. Not looking for advice; just needed to get it out of my system.

So sorry you had such a tough day. I've been there with getting so angry inside at students, and then feeling the guilt for being angry. You're not alone!

I hope typing it out helped, and that you're able to get some relaxation and self care in this weekend.

You are not alone, my toughest student did something similar yesterday. I also feel disrespected and I've gotten meaner to this kid, too. It's not us, it's them. We are only human and need to be kind to ourselves.

Everyone gets angry sometimes. Kids can get on your last nerve. I hope you're having a good weekend.

I had "that" class two years ago. It's rough. Sorry you had a bad day. We got through it as a teaching team and are now having a great year, so there's hope.

We are all human and have emotions. I had "THAT" class before too.
It is hard to remain cheerful when you feel disrespected.
Sometimes as teachers, we consider ourselves superhuman and are too hard on ourselves when we may have said the wrong thing.
Try to wipe the slate as soon as you can and try again. That is all we can do! I have had times it took me a week or 2 to get over some major garbage, but then you just have to move on the best you can.

for the kind and supportive responses. We may not know each other on a personal level, but we are all in this together I feel. Thank you again.

I am ashamed to admit I have had such moments more often than I would wish for. I realize that I am getting more and more impatient with the students. Like you I feel guilty after that fact but what's done is done.
