When this is over

This will eventually end.
Being isolated has given me many hours of thinking and assessing. I think many people have done the same thing , and I also think we, as a country, will view our lives very differently when we begin an outside life again.
So, what will you do differently ?

I will not worry about the small stuff I worried about before. All I care about now is that my family stays healthy. The rest of the stuff is just not that important.

AV I will probably continue some distancing. I’m a hugger and handclasper who has learned the power of not touching.

AV I will know that many medical appointments/tests are not essential.

AV I will appreciate all that I can do from home.

What I have realized is that I've made teaching my identity. I will work to develop a life outside of my job, because I'm lost right now. I do NOT like the fact that I don't have a "SassyTeach" outside of school...at least it seems that way. So DV (during virus), I want to find me. AV I will no longer see teaching as my #1 identity.

What a sad realization I've had.

Be more aware of God's message to us, and my time, here on Earth
.
Set aside more time to be with family members making memories.

I will remember the difference between wants and needs.

Appreciate each day even more

Be aware of which neighbors, friends, and family members who did their part in following the suggested guidelines for helping to stop the spread. I really feel that this tells us a lot about a person, and if they care more about others, or if they are truly only concerned about their own selfish/self-centered needs. I will not judge, but will be aware and remember.

I will not care as much about material "stuff."

I will not eat at buffets anymore.

I will be more selective about who I hug.

I will wash my hands properly.

I will never shop at ebay again - they are not kicking off price gougers.

I will replenish my emergency fund by continuing to live simply.

I will miss the clean air.

I will remember those who have been helpful and supportive.

I honestly don't know yet. I'll have to see if I do anything differently then. I know I'll be able to rediscover going to all the places I've loved to go!

I pretty much have been living the way I've wanted all along and will, therefore continue these things:

- I've always been able to enjoy the simple things in life
- Pray to God
- Continue to save as much money as I can
- Enjoy life to the fullest
- Continue working from home as I have for the past 6 years

I know I'll really treat myself when this is over because I've been suffering with a health issue since Dec that affects quality of life.

I'm sure there are a few things I'm not thinking of at the moment.

I will appreciate the ability to gather with my friends for social activities like lunch out.

I will probably opt not to attend any Major League baseball games this season if they have a season with crowds. I usually attend three or four a season.

I have tickets for a Lady Gaga concert in mid-August. Will go if they have it, but will worry more about mass events like that than I did in the past.

I probably will want to still keep socially distant from strangers.

I will appreciate the normalcy of my regular schedule such as being able to go to the gym, grocery stores when I want, and the library.

I will appreciate the ability to plan and go on a vacation. We were fortunate we didn't have to cancel anything, but I am not sure about a southern trip I wanted to do in late September and a trip to the Smokies in December.

I will be diligent with keeping my essential supplies in good (not excessive) supply.

I will continue to keep an emergency supply of school work on-hand for my students.

I have a new appreciation for my SIL who has done many thoughtful things for my mom recently. I will make more of an effort to cherish her.

I hope I will be more present and appreciative while attending mass after going so long without.

Someone has revealed their true colors again during a time when we should be kind. It saddens me, but that person is now off my radar.

I hope people don't go too far with keeping up social distancing once this is over. We need some exposure to germs to help build up our immunity.

I'm not sure personally what I will do differently other than making sure that I am eating right and being as healthy as I can possibly be.

I'll read more biographies since they help give me perspective regarding how much strength and endurance people used to have and their stories give me strength.

I'll pray harder for the people I know.

I'll use Zoom or Facetime to connect with grandchildren instead of phone calls.

I may stop shaking hands, holding hands in a circle, etc., but I don't want to give up hugging.

I will never complain about rolling out at 5:30 or 6 am for an 8 am soccer game again. I donīt complain too much, and I LOVE watching my dd play, but seeing her lose this whole half a soccer year has been hard. Itīs her joy and a source of well being for her over the years.

In the big scheme of things itīs not important, but I will appreciate it more.

When it's over will I believe it?

I wonder if I'll really believe it when officials say it's over. I think I'll doubt that areas are clean and clear. I bet I'll wonder if others are truly healthy, something I never doubted before. I want to enjoy dining out, gathering with friends again but I wonder if I'll be able to really believe the "all clear".

Differently

This virus and other reasons have led me to the decision to retire in June. I truly want to enjoy life with my husband, spend time with my family, and soak in the beauty of the outdoors and nature. I wish to read and exercise, without feeling guilty because I have to do school related work. Things I knew before but didn’t act on. Life is precious and time is is promised to nobody.

China is gradually opening things back up. It will be interesting to see how this progresses.

After this is over:

I will be smarter with our money and make sure we have an emergency nest egg.

I will appreciate get together with friends and do it more often, even if it's on zoom.

I will continue to wash my hands more, but I will not stress about germs. I've never been a germaphobe and don't want to start being one.

I am hoping it's over by the time August comes around because I still want to go on the trip we've scheduled (and paid for). But I don't know if I'll get DH on a plane after this.
