1. I would love to take a nap but then I wouldn't be able to fall asleep at night.
2. For adult literature, it's John Irving. For kids, Richard Peck.
3. We go through a lot of fresh fruit, especially bananas.
4. I've never taken in a stray. Years ago, we came close with the most adorable kitten in the world, but DH is truly allergic and couldn't bring her in.

1. Yes! My 2 year old ds still naps in the afternoons, so I usually take one too.

2. Lots of favorites, I don't think I could choose just one.

3. Milk

4. We had cat that just showed up at our house one day. I kept telling her to go away, but she wouldn't leave. Then my oldest ds named her and after that she was here to stay. She was with us for about 2 years until she disappeared one day. My oldest ds was heartbroken.

1. Do you take naps on the weekends?
Yes, and on weekdays, too! (I am retired).

2. Who is your favorite author?
TNTC. (That's a microbiology term: too numerous to count).

3. What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket?
Ice cream.

4. Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?
When we first moved here, a kitten was always hanging around. She belonged to the neighbors two doors down, but seemed to always be going from house to house looking for love. These neighbors had multiple cats, and said she often did not come home to eat or at night. One frigid winter night, she was at our door and we let her in. We were her people till she died.

We named her Ginger, but every person in the neighborhood had loved her and named her (and fed her), so she also went by Lucky, Fat Cat, and a few other names. She was a great mouser, and refused to be an indoor cat till the last month or so of her life.

1. Naps every day I'm retired
2. Too many to list
3. Bananas
4. Many years ago a Bassett Hound kept
hanging on our door step. Having one as a
kid I fell in love with him as did my kids. The paper boy casually mentioned the dogs name was Brandy. His time with us was short lived. Come to find out from the mailman that he was a roaming dog. He had a good home but would stray away and make himself at home where there were kids. True to his history, one day while he was outside playing with my children he took off and went home. Apparently the owners had gotten tired of putting up missing dog signs and just waited for him to come home.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends?
I nap at any opportunity. DH says I'm a professional.

2.) Who is your favorite author?
I love so many different ones. I enjoy Sharon Creech for kids. The first grown up books I read were Ed McBain/Evan Hunter, so those hold a special place for me.

3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket?
milk

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?
Every pet I've had except the current ones were strays. Three dogs just wandered up and claimed me. Two dogs were left behind by their owners when they moved. Two I got from a shelter. Both had been brought in as strays.

1. I love to take naps! I usually don't get a chance to crash, though.
2. Impossible to choose! It depends on my mood.
3. Strawberries! I buy at least 3 pounds a week. They keep my very picky DD from starving to death.
4. Nope. I did take a stray kitten to a neighbor once, though. I'm just not a person who wants to live with animals in the house.

1. I may shut my eyes when reading in my comfy chair but I'm not a "lay down and nap" kind of person.

2. Pearl Buck has always been a favorite. Ray Bradbury too. Louise Penny is a new favorite.

3. Bananas and deli meat/cheese for my DH's sandwiches.

4. We have a sweet cat our neighbor left behind when she moved. We also have taken in two kittens born to feral cats that we fed. We've taken care of dogs who have wondered our way but have managed to reunite them with their owners. We once rescued a run away donkey too and got her back home.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends? Usually. I love naps and I'm usually so exhausted on the weekends from lack of sleep during the week that it's my catch up time.
2.) Who is your favorite author? I don't have one in particular. I read a lot, many different authors.
3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket? Various fresh fuit
4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances? Yes, two. The first one was at a job I had before teaching, as a receptionist. I came into work one morning and it was pouring down rain. As I got to the front door of the building I kept hearing this faint meow. I took my stuff inside and went back out in the rain to investigate. I found a teeny tiny kitten in the drainage ditch, soaking wet. I brought it inside and dried it off. On my lunch hour I took it to the vet to have it checked over. It came home with me for the night. I put signs up all around the neighborhood by the office I worked at. After a few days I officially claimed him as mine. He died about nine months ago at almost 17. Loved that cat . One of my current cats is also a stray. She was found in the engine of a coworkers car at school. My current kitten and another cat I had that passed away I got from the shelter.

1. I am not really a nap person. If I am coming down with a cold I will take a nap.

2. I enjoy reading Stephen King books. I may be considered one of his Constant Readers.

3. My grocery list always has some of the same items on it--- romain, spinach, radishes, etc. so I guess salad making things would be my answer!

4. Not that I recall. We feed strays, though. Right now we have a small female cat with five(!) kittens that we feed. DH bought two little feral cat houses for them to reside in. I keep telling him we need to trap them so we can take them to the no kill shelter we volunteer at before their feral instincts are too imbedded.

1. Only if I am tired!

2. Jodi Picoult

3. My husband does all the shopping! but usually sparkling water!

4. Yes, when I was about 12 or 13, we found a stray cat. My mother found out and wanted me to take it out of the house so I spent the night in our car (!!) sleeping with it because I was so mad at her. The next day our mailman took the kitten and found a home for it!

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends?
Not usually,
but I wish I could.

2.) Who is your favorite author?
I don't know if I have a favorite, I read a variety
3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket?
lettuce and salad ingredients, DH always buys ice cream when he goes to the store. Always,
sometimes more than one flavor. He is 5' 10" and skinny as a stick. I don't get it.

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?
Yes, a cat. I believe she kept us more than us keeping her.
We live in very rural setting and she showed up one day as a kitten and never left. We began feeding her and made her a nest in our shop. She lived with us for about 8 years. Her name was Clovis.

I was thinking of Six Dinner Sid also. Lisa 53 you have to see if you can find it and read that one. It is soooo like your neighborhood cat.

Naps: not as much now that I am retired

Author: lots but I am never disappointed when I read Catherine Ryan Hyde books

Shopping: fruits and veggies

Strays: yes years ago a stray cat showed up. The kids started feeding it and named it Wild thing. He was ours till he died.

1. No. If I do nap, I generally feel woozy and out of it for the rest of the day. Not worth it.
2. Too many to count.
3. Yoghurt. There are three people in this household, and we all eat our weight in yoghurt every week, it seems.
4. Yes. A tiny kitten was dumped at school outside our office. A child picked it up and brought it to the office, and it was handed to me, as the resident cat person. Her name is Sophie, she is six years old and currently asleep beside the keyboard. We adopted Paris when her previous owner's plan for moving to Sydney was to just move out and leave the cat. She never was a stray though - my husband went and got her. We are no longer friends with those people. Most of our others have been shelter kittens or farm kittens.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends?
As a rule, I'm not a napper. Since I'm still on mat leave, if we've had a really bad night, I sometimes try for a brief snooze while DD naps. Naps generally just leave me feeling groggy and gross though.

2.) Who is your favorite author?
Of all time, probably Laura Ingalls Wilder. Currently I would say Kristin Hannah or Kate Morton.

3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket?
Eggs, salad greens, fruit of some sort

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?
Our current cat was a stray. We would see her occasionally in the yard and thought she belonged to a neighbour (she was the "back door cat" and we knew the "front door cat" belonged across the street.) Then she started hanging around all the time, acting pathetic and hungry and wanting in the house. The neighbours we thought she belonged to were away so we thought she'd been left out and fed her. Neighbours came back, turned out she wasn't theirs and didn't seem to belong to anyone. I came home from swim practice one rainy afternoon and DH had let her in. That was 6 years ago and she's been ours ever since.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends?
Yes. I usually try to take some time to just sit or lay down and be still. Usually I fall asleep.

2.) Who is your favorite author?
Too numerous to count!

3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket?
Eggs, sour cream, grapes

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?
Took in a feral stray that a former co-worker rescued. Had to find him new home when I moved.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends?

Retired=napping whenever I want!

2.) Who is your favorite author?

Janet Evanovich

3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket?

Yogurt! I'm on a real kick.

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?

Many times. We live on a farm 10 miles north of a major university.

Dump offs occur within the first month when students are caught with pets in their apartments. My husband's first dog was a dump off. And Suzie, our fat orange cat was a dump off. She was about 6 when we rescued her and died 8 years later.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends?

I love a good nap! Unfortunately, I am rarely able to take one. I often lie down to rest quietly, but rarely fall asleep.

2.) Who is your favorite author?
Tracey Chevalier. I love historical fiction!

3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket?
Spinach

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?
I'm always finding stray animals or maybe they find me.
My old kitty, Katy Kat, was hiding by my garbage cans one stormy winter night. She was six weeks old or so.
My new kitten, Genevieve, ran up to me on the canal road while I was walking the dogs. The dogs did not scare her.
One time there was a cat at Safeway who kept going into the store looking for love. After I loaded my groceries into my car, I turned and the cat jumped into my arms. He was a beautiful orange tabby. I took him home and let him go in the neighborhood. He stuck around a few days.
Finally, a cat was locked in my classroom over a three day weekend. Oh, my! My room was a horrible mess and he hurt himself trying to get out. My principal allowed me to take him home. I took him to the vet, neutered him and out he went in the world somewhere.
I attract the needy!

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends?
I absolutely love sleep, but I have never been able to take naps. If I do fall asleep during the day, I know I am coming down with something.

2.) Who is your favorite author?
Jodi Picoult and Lisa Jackson

3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket?
Eggs - we have been going through a lot of eggs recently!

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?
Our dog growing up was a stray that just walked up to my dad when Dad was hunting one day. He was an older Beagle.
We had a stray kitten for a week or so a couple of weeks ago, but our new neighbors claimed him.

1. Sadly, unless I'm sick, I can't take naps because they throw me off for the rest of the day and I can't sleep that night.
2. My favorite author is Michael Chabon. Hands down. Of course, that's right now. He edged out John Irving a few years ago. And their category is favorite living American writer. I have other categories and lots of favorites because I am a reader.
3. Bananas and Klondike Bars.
4. No stray animals.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends? I love to sleep in on Saturdays, but I didn't get to today, so I will probably take a nap today. I try very hard not to nap on Sundays for I might regret it at night.

2.) Who is your favorite author? Sharon Creech

3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket? fruit

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances? One time--This is sad. I live in the country and apparently people will drive all the way out here and dump animals. There was a kitten one day on our land. I thought it looked too young, but I tried to feed it. I realized the kitten was too young to eat food, so I tried to bottle feed it, but it was too late. The kitten was too young, went too long without food and she/he died.

1. Sometimes, around 3 pm or so, and only on Sundays.
2. Depends on my mood. JK Rowling is my favorite as a person.
3. Potato chips and chicken
4. No but there was a domestic bunny in my neighborhood that was set loose by people who didn't want it . The neighbors and I took care of it by putting food and water out, but no one could catch it.

TP. Since childhood I swear my youngest DD eats it!

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?
No, though shortly after the Disney movie Pocohantas came out, my very young DDs wanted to take in a baby raccoon that kept hanging around our backyard!

1) If I can!! And it's long! My kids know 1-3pm is my optimal napping time. =)

2) I really like Fredrik Backman right now.

3) Bananas

4) Sort of. A couple of years ago a small, old stray dog collapsed in our front yard. Our neighbor's middle school student found him. He literally would have been dead within a day. My mom loves animals and was dealing with depression, so we called her. It helped her to have a "mission". She took in the stray and got him medical care. He lived another year with her before passing away.

1. Occasionally I take a nap, but not often. I'm more apt to conk out on the couch on a Friday night around 9.
2. I don't really have one because I read a LOT. Some of my favorites are Liane Moriarty, Diane Chamberlain, Jodi Picoult, Fannie Flagg, and Jennifer Weiner.
3. I think I buy Goldfish for DS every single week. He's almost 14 and asks for them constantly!
4. Nope - never taken in a stray animals.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends? Far too often I find myself napping-weekdays too sometimes.

2.) Who is your favorite author? Dean Koontz or Robin Cook

3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket? Fruit, meat

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances? Yes. All through her teen years, DD fostered animals waiting to be rehomed. We always had extra stuff around for them. Our dirt road was a thru road between two highways so folks were always dumping off animals nearby. DD would take them in as well and then list them with her sources.

Since she is away at college now, we have sold or given away most of the pens, beds and other so we do not do that now.

1. Yes, I try to take a nap each weekend. I need that rejuvenation time.

2. I read too many to list. I am an avid reader especially of historical romances.

3. I am always buying fruit and milk.

4. Yes, my 15 year cat was a stray who would not leave. She is still with us.

1. almost never take naps unless I'm completely wiped or sick
2. I don't do "favorites" for pretty much anything
3. soda otherwise dh does all the shopping
4. yes- at least we thought she was a stray... she was super skinny, very dirty, and running wild. we took her and she had puppies with dh's family's dog and one of them was the best dog I've ever known in my life and I miss him so much! The stray died almost immediately after puppy birth We also took in a stray briefly on the request of dh's coworker. It bit dh and we didn't keep it.

1. Yes, but only on a Saturday. If I took one on a Sunday, I'd be afraid I couldn't sleep that night.

2. too many!!!

3. milk (and I don't drink it, only DH).

4. Yes, one day we were driving home - we saw a pug outside! It was August so it was very hot. We took her home and called (and called and called and called) the number! They finally answered after about two hours. They were having a party and their dog had gotten out and they didn't even know it. They came and got her. She was actually only about three houses away from her house (and one minute away from us). She was so cute - I love pugs and our pug and the stray were playing.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends? Not too often
2.) Who is your favorite author? So many...
3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket? Bread
4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances?
#1 my first cat was from a farm
#2 from one of my student's farms
#3 black cat that neighbors had in their garage-it was small and it was getting close to Halloween
#4 calico cat-some kids were chasing a cat across the street. I asked them if they needed help with their cat. Well, none of them could take it in. So...
#5 another black cat and many neighbors were feeding it. DH who said we weren't taking it in put a tarp over our fooseball table & fed him. no more cats
#6 Found a cat across the street from our house. We took it in but found out later she had all kinds of illness and had to put her down.
Other cats have been from the Humane Society.

Yes, lisa53 You must read Six Dinner Sid. I always read that book to my class before doing a sequencing story.

1. I love a good nap and have never willingly turned one down.

2. I love so many, but Marilynne Robinson is my hands down favorite. I can pick up any one of her books, open it up, and sink right in.

3. Wine. My spouse does most of the shopping, but he doesn't drink wine, so when I have to go to the store it's always in my basket.

4. No stray animals for us, but all of our cats have come from shelters.

1.) Do you take naps on the weekends? Not usually

2.) Who is your favorite author? I have so many it would be hard to pin it down.

3.) What item do you feel like you are always buying at the supermarket? Toilet paper, !

4.) Have you ever taken in a stray animal? What were the circumstances? When my brother and I were teens we brought home a stray dog. My parents had been gone for the weekend and when they got home informed us that we had to call the Humane Society the next day as she may belong to someone who is looking for her and we could not have a second dog. When the person from the facility came and put the dog on a leash to take her off, she looked at my mom with such a sad look and my mom immediately said, "For how long do you have to keep her before we can come and get her" Yep, 5 days later we had two dogs!
