Fun birthday story

Years ago I was newly divorced and left with no money. I had 3 small children and shopped for their Christmas gifts at yard sales. I had bought my young son a toy that had a moving truck that would go around a track picking up small black balls that were supposed to be coal. He LOVED it. Fast forward many years and I find the same toy, brand new in a store out of town. I bought it and hoped that perhaps he would have a son down the road and I would give it to my grandson. Fast forward 17 years and today I went to my grandson's 3rd birthday. I was giving him the family legend.....THE toy. My girls have known I had it all along, but my son just knew I had A SPECIAL toy. My son's smile was huge when he saw the gift. He put it together for my grandson, yet the one motorized piece was not running correctly. My son disappears into his basement and comes back up carrying a box. It was his ORIGINAL toy. He pulled out the motorized piece and combined it with the new version. Now the tables were turned.....my smile was huge. He said, "Mom it was my FAVORITE toy, I never would have parted with it. I took a picture of him and my grandson playing with it together on the floor.

What a sweet story! Iím sure it meant a lot to your son that you bought that toy for his son, knowing the joy it will bring.

You need to submit this story to Lovewhatmatters.com. They always have touching stories like this. It would be a perfect edition to their website.

I loved the whole thing and was so excited for my son to see the gift. No way in the world was I expecting the outcome. I was so disappointed that the main piece wasn't working. But just look how the disappointment was turned around!
