Things I thought I'd never do...

I have some friends that meet 1x per month for "crafting and coffee," usually at a local bakery. Today, of course we met online. They were pointing out that just one month ago, we were talking about work from home.

Many of them work remotely all of the time and really enjoy it. I was just saying last time how much I'd hate that, but it's not something that would ever be possible for me as a teacher anyway. And four short weeks later...here I am, working from home. I remember a parent asking in late Feb. if we would ever do "teleschool" and I thought that idea was simply absurd. My how quickly things change!

Also:

-driving my car just to drive it/so the battery doesn't go out
-waiting in line 6 feet apart to get into a store after enough other people come out (my friend pointed out it's now like an exclusive nightclub"
-trying to figure out how to make a mask for said store outings

Am I the only one who still has a hard time wrapping their head around how strange this all is? What are you doing that you thought you would never do?

Yes, this is still really surreal to me. I've joked with DH about being a stay at home dog mom, but didn't see that happening as a teacher. I never thought I'd be checking daily to see if Target and Costco had yeast, toilet paper, and paper towels in stock.

Yes, how quickly things can change. I've been out of the classroom. I've been working from home for a while now, way before covid hit. I love it personally. I don't have to see a soul. Just let me do my work in peace and earn my living. My Mom and fiance' are the only closest people in my life and that's good enough for me.

DH and I say we are practicing for retirement.

Things that donít feel weird to me . . .
  • wearing a mask
  • extra careful hand washing
  • ordering online
  • grocery pickup
  • staying home a lot
  • limits on certain items or being out of certain items at the store

Things that do feel weird to me . . .
  • waiting in line to enter a store
  • teaching 100% online
  • not being able to go things like get my nails done or get a massage
  • not knowing how long this will continue

I never thought I would be...

-washing cans, bottles, and just about anything I buy at the grocery store

-making masks and mailing them to old frienemies.

-connecting with people on Zoom

Things I thought I would never do:

* Go more than one month on the same tank of gas
* Source my food through various mail order food companies
* The first thing I would do in the morning would get a grocery pick up spot for me or delivery spot for my mom
* Befriend relatives and current co-workers on social media. Weirdly, i had just started doing this before virus
* Bake from scratch so much
*Convert all my bills to online pay
* Go so long without cash/using cash
* Limit my news intake

Things I never thought I would do:

-hate staying home so much
-learn how to make homemade Clorox wipes
-be terrified when people enter my 6 foot bubble
-be excited when the neighbor makes me a mask with Snoopy on it!
-contemplate growing a garden....I have always said I wanted to, this will have to be the year!
-look at a totally empty calendar....with nothing on it.
-go this long without getting a haircut
-be so excited when I receive a text, phone call, email, letter...anything that shows evidence that I still do
exist

I feel like I am living in a very long Stephen King novel because my own imagination could have never dreamt up what our world is going through.

I would
Wear a mask when itís not Halloween or Mardi Gras.
Go to the grocery store every 7/8 days.
Getting excited finding common items like TP and bread on the shelf.
Watching so much TV.

We are living inside a Science Fiction like movie. I wonder how or if anything has been overblown.

Things i did not imagine:

Eating out of boredom
Becoming a hypochondriac
Ignoring the news
Wrapping my face, head, n body before shopping
Stripping upon getting home, showering to decontaminate.

Ugh

Never thought i would be wishing for days to be over
